Foreign Minister attends Arab meeting in Cairo

Cairo, Mar.9 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, participated in the work of the 157th session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers, held today in Cairo and headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Republic of LebanonDr. Abdullah Bouhabib.
Dr. Al Zayani delivered a speech in which he noted the challenges and threats facing the Arab world, calling for joint Arab action in order to preserve the security and stability of the region and its people.
He added that the Palestinian issue will always remain the central issue of the Arab nation, stressing the firm position of the Kingdom of Bahrain that calls for achieving comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East as a strategic option.
Ge stressed that there is no solution to the Palestinian issue without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.
He expressed Bahrain's condemnation of the attacks carried out by the terrorist Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, affirming the Kingdom's full support for all steps taken by the two brotherly countries to confront such attacks.
He congratulated the Republic of Yemen on the issuance of the UN Security Council resolution on February 28, 2022, renewing the sanctions on Yemen, designating the Houthis for the first time as a terrorist group, including them in the Yemen sanctions list, and imposing an arms embargo on Yemen, in an important step that will contribute to reducing the capabilities of the terrorist Houthi militia and its hostile attacks.
The minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for all the sincere diplomatic efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Yemen and the brotherly Arab countries in cooperation with friendly countries which resulted in the issuance of this important resolution.
He concluded his speech by affirming that the Kingdom of Bahrain will always support all Arab issues and achieve the aspirations of its people for security, stability, growth and prosperity.
The Arab foreign ministers discussed topics on the agenda, including the report of the Secretary-General between the 156-157 sessions, the preparation for the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria, the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict, Arab affairs and national security, international political affairs, among others.
The ministers also discussed the political, security and humanitarian developments in Ukraine, and the efforts being made at the international level to stop the war and settle the crisis through diplomatic means.
