Bahrain participates in UNOCT annual forum

Manama, Mar. 29 (BNA): Bahrain's delegation, headed by the Chief of Strategic Affairs at the Foreign Affairs Ministry Ambassador Nancy Abdulla Jamal, participated virtually in the annual forum of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) in Doha. The forum hosted representatives from Member States of the UN, international and regional organizations, and civil society organizations. The ambassador delivered Bahrain’s speech in the first session entitled “Strategic Priorities for Programming to Prevent and Counter Terrorism and Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism”. She highlighted the Kingdom’s visions and commitment in combating terrorism and preventing extremism. The strategic affairs chief stressed that efforts to combat terrorism and prevent extremism have been at the forefront of the priorities of world governments. However, this goal has become more complex, especially with competing ideologies and in a world facing depleted global resources. She further explained that despite the pace of global developments, increasing challenges, and the exacerbation of threats of hatred and extremism, it is important to see how the multiple structures are working to combat terrorism. The ambassador said that the methods of combating terrorism are interconnected in a network forming the best practices. She explained that combating terrorism is constantly changing and that global threats have become more diverse than before, which made many countries reconsider their understanding of the issue of terrorism. Nancy emphasized Bahrain's commitment to combating terrorism globally and that the concerned national institutions are constantly aware of terrorist networks operating in and outside our region. She affirmed the Kingdom's support for all efforts made by the UN to eliminate terrorism and combating all terrorist organizations and networks that still threaten the peace and stability of the international community.
