Seoul stocks down 0.23 pct in late morning

SEOUL, May 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.23 percent lower late
Thursday morning as investors remained skittish over North Korean nuclear
threats, analysts said.

The benchmark Korean Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 3.11 points to
1,358.91 as of 11:20 a.m.
"Investors were jittery over North Korea's nuclear tests on Monday. General
Motors approaching bankruptcy also dented investor confidence," said Kim
Young-joon, an analyst at SK Securities.
On Wednesday, the U.S. automaker failed to reach a last-ditch deal with
investors, leading the Dow Jones industrial average to end 2.05 percent lower.
The local currency was trading at 1,277.75 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., down 8.35 won from Wednesday's close.
