S. Korea's consumer confidence ranks 2nd-highest among OECD countries
SEOUL, May 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's consumer confidence registered as the
second-highest among major global economies in April, a report showed Friday,
indicating that consumers have become less pessimistic about the short-term
economic outlook.
According to the report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development (OECD), South Korea's consumer confidence index (CCI) stood at 98.5
last month, the second-highest among the member states of the international body.
A rating below 100 means pessimists outnumber optimists in terms of the economic
outlook for the coming six months.
Though the April figure is still below par, the CCI for South Korea improved from
the previous month's 95.1, ranking ninth-highest among OECD countries.
Denmark topped the list with the CCI standing at 100.3. The Czech Republic and
Poland come in at third with 97.8 each. Finland, Italy, the United Kingdom and
the United States followed, in that order, the report showed.
