AZERBAIJANIS OF THE WORLD MARK REPUBLIC DAY
Baku, May 29 (AzerTAc). On the occasion of 28 May, the Republic Day, Azerbaijanis residing in various countries across the world will organize commemoration ceremonies.
Moscow: Azerbaijani embassy organized a ceremony marking the 91st anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The event was attended by head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Russia office, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Russia Alexander Yakovenko, members of Russian Federal Assembly and State Duma and ambassadors of various foreign countries in Moscow.
Speaking to the event, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Russia Alexander Yakovenko congratulated Azerbaijanis on the occasion.
Saint Petersburg: On Thursday, Azerbaijan Consulate organized a banquet on the occasion.
Speaking to the event, Azerbaijan`s Council General informed the attendees about the first democratic republic in the East.
Head of the foreign relations department of the Saint Petersburg city administration Alexander Prokhorenko read the congratulatory letter of Governor Valentina Matviyenko to Azerbaijanis on the occasion.
The city`s “Nevskoe Vremya” newspaper published an article about Azerbaijan.
On May 31, the society of Azerbaijani students will hold a scientific conference dedicated to the history of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Canada: on Thursday, the embassy raised Azerbaijani national flag in front of mayor`s office.
The event was attended by representatives of Turkic communities and Turkish ambassador Rafet Akgunay.
Kuwait City: Ambassador Shahin Abdullayev issued articles in the Arab Times and Kuwait Times newspapers, and gave an interview to Al Ray newspaper.
Cairo: Special representative of the Egyptian President arrived Thursday in embassy to deliver President Hosni Mubarak`s and his spouse Suzanne Mubarak`s congratulations to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva.
Later the same day, special representative of the country`s Prime Minister came to embassy to deliver congratulations on the occasion to his Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizade.
