PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES RUSSIAN MINISTER OF ENERGY

Baku, May 29 (AzerTAc). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Russian Minister of Energy, Chairman of the CIS Power Industry Council Sergei Shamko and his accompanying delegation.
Russian Federation`s Minister of Energy Sergei Shmatko stressed the importance of Baku`s hosting a meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia intergovernmental commission and meeting of the CIS Power Industry Council.
Shmatko said the Council`s meeting discussed preparatory work of the CIS energy authorities for the autumn-winter season amidst the global financial crisis.
The Head of State stressed the power industry is an important part of economy, adding there are good opportunities for multifaceted cooperation.
The President said power grids of both countries complement each other, saying effective regional cooperation in the power industry can be established.
Azerbaijani Leader pointed out bilateral cooperation is successfully developing in the energy field. According to President Ilham Aliyev, both countries provide assistance to each other when necessary.
The President expressed assurance that cooperation in the power industry will develop constructively in the future.
