TWELFTH MEETING OF AZERBAIJAN-RUSSIA INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION HELD IN BAKU
Baku, May 30 (AzerTAc). The 12th meeting of Azerbaijan-Russia intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held here on Friday.
The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation in tourism, information technologies, labor migration and other spheres.
Co-chairman of the commission, First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov said the two countries had friendly relations. Eyyubov underlined Russia was Azerbaijan`s strategic partner.
He noted trade turnover between the two countries reached $ 2, 4 billion, adding they have potential to increase this indicator.
According to Eyyubov, there are close relations between Azerbaijan and Russia in humanitarian and cultural spheres, as well. He pointed out Azerbaijan actively cooperate with separate regions of Russia.
Eyyubov also said his country was keen on cooperation with Russia on defense industry.
Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko praised the level of cooperation between the two counties.
Shmatko said the meeting would contribute to developing bilateral relations even more.
The participants decided to hold the next meeting of the commission in Moscow in 2010 and signed a protocol on the outcome of the meeting.
