Ssangyong Motor's auto sales plummet 60 pct in May

SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- Ssangyong Motor Co., which has been under bankruptcy
protection since February, said Monday its auto sales plunged 60 percent in May
as consumers shun buying cars from the potentially bankrupt automaker.

Ssangyong, the smallest automaker in South Korea, sold 2,868 units last month
with exports nosediving 85.7 percent to 612 units and domestic sales falling 22.3
percent to 2,256 units, the company said in a statement.
