Sustainable Development Minister partakes in high profile UN political forum

New York, July 13 (BNA): The Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al Khelif, has affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to achieve the sustainable development goals through various programmes and projects. This came as she chaired the kingdom’s delegation to the high-profile political forum in the UN headquarters, in New York, which is considered the main platform for the UN to follow up and review the sustainable development plan for 2030 and its goals at the international level. Al Khelif said participating in the forum aims to highlight Bahrain’s civilizational image in terms of achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and exploring distinguished experiences in this regard. She noted that Bahrain taskforce, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is working continuously on launching innovative initiatives to achieve SDGs. She pointed out the big strides made in this respect by harmonizing schemes with the government’s programmes. The minister pointed out Bahrain’s leading position in adopting the sustainable development march by launching strategies to diversify the economy, boost welfare and realize economic and social balance. In this context, she noted that launching the financial balance programme and the economic recovery plan is based on the principles of the Economic Vision 2030 of sustainability, competitiveness and justice.
