Yemeni teenager swallows spoon amid family arguments
SANA'A, June 02 (Saba) - After being diagnosed with a spoon in her
stomach, doctors at the Hospital of University of Science and
Technology could not imagine how a teenager girl, 19 could swallow a
steel spoon.
But they found themselves in hurry to save the girl who has been
suffering stomach pains for six days.
"It took 15 minutes to finish the surgery and help the poor teenager
patient. She was allowed out of the hospital on the day she
underwent the operation," Ridha al-Ajam, advisor of digestive system
and liver diseases said.
The spoon has caused scars to her stomach and she is now in good
condition.
It was the firs time we have ever dealt with such a surgery, he
said, adding until this moment we still wonder how the girl dared to
swallow a spoon.
The girl came from Ethiopia and according to her relatives she
swallowed the spoon in an effort to attract her family's attention.
She is a Yemeni-Ethiopian girl, mother is Ethiopian, living in a
difficult condition due to family arguments.
