S. Korea confirms another type-A flu case

By Lee Joon-seung

SEOUL, June 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's health authorities on Wednesday confirmed one more case of type-A influenza, bringing the number of reported infections here to 42.

According to the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, a 16-year-old
Korean student has been confirmed to have been infected with the type-A H1N1
virus after returning from the United States on Sunday.
He showed flu-like symptoms such as fever and coughing shortly after arrival and
visited a clinic the next day for a checkup, authorities said.
Ministry officials said that two family members, who had come in close contact
with the student, showed no signs of having contracted the flu.
"As the new case shows, most of the flu infections detected in the country are
from new overseas arrivals," a health official said.
Of the 42 flu cases, only nine remain in quarantine with the rest being released
in good health. No one in South Korea has died from the disease.
The World Health Organization, meanwhile, said the new flu has spread to 64
countries and infected 18,965 worldwide, with 117 deaths being reported so far.
