Release of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief disturbing: Krishna
New Delhi, Jun 3 (PTI) Terming the release of
Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohd Saeed as "disturbing",
External Affairs Minister S M Krishna Wednesday said India is
closely monitoring the developments related to it.
At the same time, he said India wanted to normalise
relations with Pakistan and would try to do so through
diplomatic channels.
"The developments are disturbing. We are closely
monitoring the developments," Krishna told reporters when
asked to comment on the release of Saeed, who is the prime
accused in the 26/11 attack.
When it was pointed out to him that India and Pakistan
were playing T-20 cricket match in Britain even though the
government had adopted a 'no cricket policy' with Pakistan
after the Mumbai terror attacks, Krishna said the matter "is
something that is to be dealt with by the Sports Ministry."
When Sports Minister M S Gill was asked about the ongoing
cricket encounter between the two countries, he said the
"match is on...it is good as we should play, and not fight."
He jocularly added that "tonight I will find out how they
are performing."
On New Delhi's policy of 'no cricket' with Pakistan, Gill
said "Wednesday is a day of celebration, we'll discuss the
lengthy
matter some other time. You asked about the match and I told
you that we should play not fight." PTI NAB
