Yemen, Syria discuss agricultural cooperation



DAMASCUS, June 03 (Saba)- Yemeni ambassadors to Syria and Lebanon
Abdul Wahab Tawaf and Faisal Amin Abu Ras respectively held a
meeting on Wednesday with the Syrian minister of Agriculture Adel
Safar.

In the meeting, means of developing the agricultural cooperation
between Yemen and Syria were discussed.

The Syrian minister highlighted level of bilateral relations between
the two countries especially in field of the trade exchange.

He said that Syria would lift embargo on importing mangos from Yemen
as it is free from disease which affect the fruit.

Meanwhile, the director of the plants protection in the ministry of
agriculture and irrigation Abdullah al-Sanabni told Saba that the
Syrian side voiced readiness to lift the embargo in the framework of
the meeting of officials in both countries on the sideline of the
conference on international agreement on protecting plants which was
held last April in Rome.

Al-Sanabani highlighted efforts of the ministry in developing
agricultural products especially fruits and vegetables.

He made it clear that new markets were opened last year for
exporting of mango to Jordan and Lebanon, saying that Oman would
open its markets for this fruit.
