Brazil Embassy To Hold Seminar On Trade, Investments Opportunities In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- The Brazilian embassy in Malaysia will hold a seminar on opportunities for trade and investments in Malaysia for a delegation of visiting Brazilian associations and companies on Sept 29. The embassy, in a statement to Bernama, said the one-day seminar, to be held at a hotel here, is being organised in collaboration with the Brazilian Trade Promotion Agency (APEX) and Brazil's External Affairs Ministry. It will be officiated by Brazil's ambassador to Malaysia Ary Norton de Murat Quintella. Special Envoy of Brazil to ASEAN, Ambassador Piragibe Tarrago, will also speak about Brazil’s renewed partnership with ASEAN. There will be two sessions – one on Malaysia’s economic outlook with Chairman of CIMB ASEAN Research Institute (CARI) Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid and an overview of Malaysian trade with speakers from Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) and the Halal Development Corporation. Brazil is Malaysia's largest Latin American trading partner and largest investor with total bilateral trade of US$6.4 billion in 2021. "In fact, Malaysia was, in 2021, the 14th main destination for Brazilian exports in the world, ahead of most of Brazil’s bordering neighbours," it said. The growing relevance of Malaysia to Brazil’s economy, and vice versa, has drawn considerable attention in Brazil since last year and this has been reflected lately in the increase of official exchanges and trade missions between the two countries. The Brazilian delegation comprises representatives from companies and associations including Embraer, Confederation of Agriculture And Livestock of Brazil, Brazilian Beef Exporters Association, Brazilian Association of Animal Protein, Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers, Brazilian Institute of Beans and Pulses, Brazilian Association of the Chocolate, Peanut and Candy Industry and Brazilian Association of the Soluble Coffee Industry.
