Show of two Yemeni bronze lion statues in Louvre started
SANA'A, June 04 (Saba)- A show of two Yemeni bronze lion statues in
Louvre Museum started. The two statues were restored by the museum,
first one brought from Sana'a National Museum and dated back to
first century of BC, and the second was in museum of antiquities in
Ibb governorate dated back to period between second and third
century of AC.
The show for two statues would last until 5th October of 2009 in the
museum and then they would be transported to Yemen to be showed in
Yemeni museums.
Minister of Culture Mohammed al-Maflahi opened a gallery in the
museum titled "Aden and Arabia Felix," which shows photos dated to
1930s for Aden city.
The minister highlighted level of the bilateral relations between
the ministry and Louvre, expressing thanks for the museum in
qualifying Yemeni cadres in field of restoring and museums.
Al-Maflahi said that the show would be a chance to enlighten the
visits of the museum about the Yemeni civilizations.
The statues arrived in Paris of France last January.
The director of the museum Henri Loyrette expressed his happiness to
show these two objects in the museum, praising cooperation between
the museum and Yemen.
He pointed out to future projects between the two sides soon.
