Qatar Participates in Bilateral Meeting with Officials of IAEA's Technical Cooperation Programme

Doha, October 06 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, represented by Radiation and Chemical Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) participated in the bilateral meeting with the officials of the technical cooperation program in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the sidelines of IAEA General Conference that was convened in the Austrian capital Vienna. A statement issued by MOECC stated that the meeting laid out a draft in the clinical and research fields relevant to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the area of health care, where IAEA hailed the project which is the-first-of-kind project in the region and contributes to imaging the children to further determine the drug dosage more easily and accurately, in addition to contributing to Neurology and gynecology applications. In addition, Sidra Medicine and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will essentially benefit from this national project, including their medical cadres and practitioners, radiation technologists and physicists, while the project implementation will commence in 2024. On the other hand, the State of Qatar, represented by MOECC, supervises 44 technical cooperation projects with IAEA, including 11 national projects, 29 regional projects and 4 projects at the international level in cooperation with the relevant authorities in the State of Qatar. Last April, the State of Qatar signed a new cooperation framework with IAEA which includes the continuation of implementing the previous projects and adopt three new national projects for the forthcoming session 2024-2025, in addition to its engagement in the regional projects through Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology (ARASIA).
