S. Korea confirms 3 additional new flu cases

SEOUL, June 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's health authorities confirmed Friday three additional cases of Influenza A, brining the number of new flu infections here to 46.

The three patients include a 22-year-old Korean woman who recently came from the
Philippines and a 55-year-old female Korean who returned from United States,
according to the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs. An 18-year-old
man was also confirmed to have been infected with the H1N1 virus, it added.
The three were under observation at state-designated hospitals for treatment, the
ministry said, adding it is tracing all people who might have been in contact
with them as a precautionary measure to stem the spread of the contagious
disease.
Out of 46 people infected with the virus here in Korea, 39 people have been
released from hospitals after showing no signs of the disease. Seven people are
currently quarantined for further treatment, the ministry said.
According to the latest tally by the World Heath Organization, 66 countries have
officially reported 19,273 cases of new flu infection, including 117 deaths. No
deaths have been reported in South Korea.
