Qatari Newspapers Editorials
Doha, October 11 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials on Tuesday Qatar's belief in constructive dialogue as the best way to settle the Ukrainian crisis, based on the principles of law and the Charter of the United Nations, the implementation of existing agreements, and comprehensive and sustainable solutions.
In this context, the Qatari dailies pointed to the telephone conversation which HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held Monday with HE Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During the phone call, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the Ukrainian arena, especially with regard to the crisis with Russia and the need to end it through dialogue and diplomatic means.
On the other hand, the newspapers affirmed Qatar's commitment to preserving the human dignity of workers and everyone who resides on its land, its constant updating of laws that guarantee more welfare and respect for workers' rights. The papers highlighted the continuous international praise for the major reforms implemented by the State of Qatar in the field of labor, protecting workers' rights and providing workers with a safe environment.
Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that the State of Qatar is following, with great concern, the current developments in Ukraine and their serious humanitarian repercussions on international peace and security, economy, and food security. HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held Monday a telephone conversation with HE Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where they discussed the latest developments in the Ukrainian arena, especially with regard to the crisis with Russia and the need to end it through dialogue and diplomatic means.
The newspaper noted that HH the Amir renewed calls on all parties to exercise restraint, resolve the dispute through dialogue and diplomatic methods, settle international disputes by peaceful means, and not take any action that would lead to further escalation.
In conclusion, Al-Sharq stated that the State of Qatar believes that the way to settle the current crisis and meet the legitimate concerns of all parties is through constructive dialogue in a spirit of compromise, based on the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, implementing existing agreements, reaching comprehensive and sustainable solutions, and ensuring that the legitimate concerns of all parties are met.
For its part, Al-Watan newspaper said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani called on all parties involved in the Ukrainian crisis to exercise restraint, resolve the dispute through dialogue and diplomatic methods, settle international disputes by peaceful means, and not to take any action that would lead to further escalation.
The newspaper pointed out that His Highness's call came at a time when this crisis is witnessing rapid, escalating developments. This requires all peace-loving forces to unite to find a peaceful solution to a crisis that can only end through constructive dialogue, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and guided by the principles of international law, a firm Qatari position that it has expressed and believed in as the only means of resolving crises, especially the Ukrainian crisis, which has entered a turning point that threatens to further escalation unless a serious and responsible search for outcomes begins.
Al-Watan concluded by saying that the developments witnessed today can only be contained through a diplomatic path, which will spare the parties the conflict and the world repercussions. There is still time to overcome the crisis through a courageous and purposeful dialogue, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said that suspicious parties that are trying to undermine Qatar’s reputation have no choice but to surrender and return from the great mistake they are committing against themselves first, and against the State of Qatar which has never been preoccupied with such attacks that are based on forgery, deception and envy from a small country that has stunned the world and become an example for excellence and accomplishments, and pioneer in hosting major tournaments and global events, most importantly the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The paper regretted that since the first moment of announcing Qatar's win to host the FIFA World Cup 2022, it has been subjected to continuous violent attacks by suspicious parties, making false accusations by taking advantage of some issues like human rights and workers. However, these parties will not reach the level the State of Qatar has achieved in terms of laws and reforms in the interest of humanity and the promotion of the rights of migrant workers who live in dignity among their families and brothers from the people of Qatar.
In this context, Al-Raya pointed to the worldwide acclaims of Qatar's major reforms in the field of labor and the protection of workers' rights, especially as it is on the threshold of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Experts, officials and former players underlined that the State of Qatar has carried out major reforms to protect the rights of workers, provide them with means of safety in the workplace and decent livelihoods.
In conclusion, Al-Raya reiterated that the State of Qatar is committed to preserving human dignity of workers and everyone who resides on its land, where everyone lives under the umbrella of the law which always settles the disputes between workers and the employers so that each party takes its right without injustice or discrimination. The State of Qatar has clearly demonstrated its constant updating of laws that guarantee more welfare and respect for workers' rights.
On the other hand, Qatari English daily The Peninsula highlighted the "Friendship Benches" initiative launched yesterday to mark the World Mental Health Day with the aim of promoting the critical importance of mental health and the role that football and sport more broadly can play in promoting mental well-being.

The initiative is supported by FIFA, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), the Friendship Benches NGO and the WHO Universal Health Coverage Partnership.
In line with the initiative, the State of Qatar marked the World Mental Health Day under the theme "Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority" The theme presents an opportunity for people with mental health conditions, advocates, governments, employers, employees and other stakeholders to recognize progress in this field and to be vocal about what needs to be done to address the issue and promote mental health inclusivity, The Peninsula said.
