Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads, Public Places in Qatar Organizes "Alwaan" Activity

Doha, October 12 (QNA) - As part of "Zeeenah" initiative, The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar organized "Alwaan" activity in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar Museums, with the participation of public and private schools.
"Zeeenah" initiative which was launched by the Committee under the slogan "Let's celebrate"; in the aims of beautifying facades of workplaces, schools, universities and buildings in addition to plazas, roads and other public services; in the occasion of hosting FIFA World Cup in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and several governmental entities.
The event was held over three days, where Abu Baker Asedeeq Preparatory School for Boys has participated in the first day of the activity, and Moza Bint Mohamed Preparatory School for Girls participated in the second day, whereas Gulf English School participated in the third day and last day.
In this occasion, the Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar , Eng. Mohammed Arqoub Al Khaldi, stated: "The committee continues to exert efforts and commitment to provide initiatives and events that contribute to providing a platform through which all society categories can interact in various activities, and in turn "Alwaan" activity highlights the importance of art in the development of creativity and teamwork skills among school students."
He added: "Alwaan" as part of "Zeeenah" initiative works to provide a distinctive artistic touch to the region, in celebration of FIFA World Cup, as the paintings embody the atmosphere of welcoming FIFA World Cup guests, at a time when the eyes of the whole world are turning to our beloved country Qatar".
From his part, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Private Education Affairs, Omar Abdulaziz Al Naama, said: "The Ministry's participation in "Alwaan" activity reflects the great attention that the Ministry attaches to the artistic aspects in schools, and confirms its keenness to build a comprehensive educational experience aimed at improving the quality the students’ lives."
He added: "we are proud to participate with The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar in highlighting Qatar’s civilized image to FIFA World Cup guests through the mural that added an additional splendor in the region, especially since FIFA World Cup is considered to be a milestone in terms of attracting tourists during post-World Cup."
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Maha Al Ruwaili, said: "Art has always been present around us and reflective of certain events, and through which the identity of the nation and its memory are preserved, and based on the significant role of art in the enhancement of the communities. "Alwaan" activity represents an aspect of the distinctive cooperation between the ministry and the committee that contributes to enhancing the impression of the visitors regarding Qatar on one hand, and provide an inspiring and motivating educational environment on the other, after creativity has become a consistent approach to move forward in educational work that is supportive of talents. As such events open students’ horizons to creativity, help them make use of their artistic talents, encourage their school creativity."
She added: "we are pleased to participate in this activity that is within "Zeeenah" initiative that aims to decorate various state’s areas to provide the best experience to FIFA World Cup fans which will make them want to return to Doha, the city of art, tradition, and values."
The Director of Public Art at Qatar Museums, Abdulrahman Ahmed Al Ishaq, said: "Qatar Museums is honored to once again have the support of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar for the latest edition of Jedariart. This year, we are delighted to have school children as part of the program and to provide them with an opportunity unleash their creativity as they add vibrancy to one of Doha's urban spaces."
Artist Maryam Al Madhaadi said: "I was pleased to choose my paintings as part of "Alwaan" activity, where I was able through these paintings to reflect the way children think and their educational needs, and I thank the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places for the trust it placed in me."
She added: "I am proud that children have their significant mark in welcoming FIFA World Cup guests, as I’m always keen to ensure, through my paintings, that children are introduced to different places in Qatar and acknowledge its major features as well as its importance to the Qatari community, as the State of Qatar is rich in its tradition and culture, and we shall instill this in the hearts of our students."
