Ministry of Municipality Organizes Qatari-Korean Initiative for Smart Farming Forum

Doha, October 12 (QNA) - The Ministry of Municipality, represented by Food Safety Department, organized the events of the Qatari-Korean initiative for smart farming technology Forum, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the State of Qatar, in the presence of HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie , and with the participation of a host of Ministry's directors and officials, including representatives of the Korean Embassy and a number of agricultural companies relevant to the smart farming field in the two countries. The forum featured the presentation of a number of work papers on the techniques of smart farm and work model with the intention of capitalizing on the know-how of the Korean side and share expertise in the field of smart farming. The forum also focused on the participations of a wide range of Korean companies relevant to smart farming pertaining to the incorporation of the Korean smart farming techniques and farm automation system to maximize production, Korean greenhouse farms, their diffusion models abroad, as well as the development of smart farm techniques outside Korea and some recommendations relevant to the State of Qatar in this field. For his part, Director of Food Security Department at the Ministry of Municipality Dr. Masoud Jarallah Almarri underlined that the convention of this event comes within the framework of fostering the joint work and the fruitful cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Korea in the area of smart farming and agricultural researches, stressing on the importance of this forum that offers a premium opportunity to further confer and share the know-how, technical and technological knowledge in the area of smart farming and development of agricultural systems, in addition to coordinating in the fields of common interest that would primarily achieve the sustainable development for the agricultural sector and contribute to enhancing food security in the State of Qatar. In addition, Masoud Jarallah Almarri elucidated that Qatar National Food Security Strategy seeks to achieve secure levels of self-sufficiency from the key vegetables by focusing on the significance of the optimal utilization of natural resources, especially land and groundwater elements, reaffirming the Ministry's keenness to increase the production efficiency of the Qatari farms through adopting and diffusing the modern agricultural technology that saves water, enhances productivity and technically and economically appropriate for the State of Qatar, in addition to developing field extension and practical agricultural researches in the same field. Almarri pointed out that the Ministry aspires to continue its cooperation and coordination with the Korean side in the field of smart farming systems with the utilization of natural resources and ensure the optimal exploitation and employment in anticipation of achieving the maximum utilization of this vital forum to attain concrete findings and sustainable solutions for the agricultural development issues that primarily contribute to achieving food security goals and requirements.
