Minister of Communications and Information Technology Meets Saudi Counterpart

Doha, October 13 (QNA) - HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai met HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha and the accompanying delegation, currently visiting the country. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities and new areas of cooperation in the communications and information technology sector, and the exchange of expertise and experiences in this field. The meeting also dealt with digital projects implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in preparation for Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and modern technologies used in the tournament, such as crowd management and communication services. The meeting touched on cooperation opportunities, where a number of agreements will be signed in the fields of communications, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, in the near future. HH Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Qatar Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al Saud and a number of officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology attended the meeting. On the other hand, HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai accompanied his Saudi counterpart on a tour of a number of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's modern technological centers and facilities with the presence of the Saudi ambassador. In this context, HE the Saudi Minister was briefed on the nature of the work of the TASMU Innovation Lab, Mada – Assistive Technology Center Qatar, and the Government Contact Center. At Mada, His Excellency was acquainted with the work of the center, which was established in 2010 as an initiative to consolidate the meanings of digital inclusion and build an accessible technological community for people with functional limitations, people with disabilities, and the elderly. The center works through strategic partnerships to empower the education sector, ensuring a comprehensive education system, and the culture and society sectors to become more inclusive through communications and information technology. In a presentation, His Excellency the Saudi Minister was introduced to the Center’s programs in building the capacities of partners, supporting the development and adoption of digital platforms in accordance with global standards for digital access, providing consultations, raising awareness and increasing the number of assistive technology solutions in Arabic through the Mada Innovation Program to enable equal opportunities for people with disabilities and the elderly in a digital society. His Excellency was also briefed on the innovation lab's goal in raising Qatar's position as a center for technological innovation. The center focuses on promoting the digital transformation of services, national priorities and stimulating the local innovation environment to achieve national results within the framework of its mission to create an integrated environment for the development of collaborative research, and adopting innovative solutions according to national priorities and directions by leading the national innovation ecosystem and introducing the open laboratory concept to the community.
