Chairmen of Qatari-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group Confirm to QNA Strength of Bilateral Relations

Doha, October 14 (QNA) - Chairmen of the Qatari-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group hailed the depth of the distinguished relations between the two countries, and stressed the keenness of the two leaderships to develop the existing strong bilateral relations in various fields, for the benefit of the two brotherly countries and peoples. HE Chairman of the Qatari-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Turkish Parliament Vahit Kiler underlined the important role the group plays in consolidating relations between the two countries and among members of parliaments, pointing out that the distinguished relations between Turkey and Qatar have reached the highest levels. In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), he stressed that the relationship between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and between the two peoples, was embodied by the two countries supporting each other in the most difficult and severe circumstances. He pointed out that the Turkish-Qatari Joint Economic Committee has made many important achievements and completed nearly 70 agreements between the two countries, considering that the momentum of economic relations between the two countries has not yet reached the desired level, especially with the presence of many areas and great opportunities for investment in Turkey. He expressed his aspiration for the joint meetings to come out with decisions that concern both sides, achieve the interests of the two brotherly peoples in various fields and help to overcome all obstacles that hinder the course of relations between the two countries. He also expresses hope for further advancement of the relations between the two countries to reach a higher level and further strength of the bonds of love and brotherhood between the two peoples. Moreover, Kiler underlined Turkish Parliament's desire to hold more joint meetings with the Shura Council to discuss ways to find new mechanisms for closer rapprochement during the next stage, stressing the need to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries in all fields and upgrade the parliamentary relations to the highest levels. On the economic field, HE Chairman of the Qatari-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Turkish Parliament emphasized the importance of opening and expanding channels of cooperation between Turkish and Qatari businessmen in order to provide a suitable environment for Qatari investors to work in Turkey, noting that the Turkish Parliament is fully prepared to enact appropriate laws that strengthen investment in his country. Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war, he noted the important mediation role played by Turkey, pointing out that parliamentarians must unite to stop the ongoing escalation and defuse the crisis in order to avoid more bloody events. European countries are the most affected by this war, he added. About the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, he described the tournament as a valuable opportunity to introduce the State of Qatar and see its most important achievements and the development and prosperity it has accomplished in recent years. He hailed the depth of the existing cooperation between Turkey and Qatar in all fields, especially in the military field, considering that the existing friendship, which extends for nearly 20 years, will be recorded in the history of relations between the two countries. At the end of his interview, he noted the importance of the meetings of the Supreme Committee and the meetings of the leaders of the two countries in order to achieve the goals in consolidating the Qatari-Turkish strategic partnership.
