Doha, October 17 (QNA) - In their Monday editorials, Qatari newspapers confirmed that all institutions and agencies in the country are moving in great harmony to comprehensively prepare to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. In this regard, they noted that the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will conduct a five-day exercise 'Watan', starting next Sunday, with the participation of the various military and civilian authorities concerned with hosting the tournament, each according to its competence, under the auspices of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, Head of the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The newspapers unanimously agreed that the exercise 'Watan' aims to enhance the role of the concerned authorities while carrying out their regular missions and additional tasks during the World Cup to assess the responsiveness in emergencies and enact the mechanisms of command, control, and cooperation between military and civil agencies to achieve integration of their roles while accomplishing the missions. Also, it aims to enhance close cooperation and the exchange of experiences with the participating sisterly and friendly forces in a manner that ensures the strengthening of joint cooperation for a better implementation of security practices in organizing major sports activities and events.
Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that about two million people from all over the world are expected to attend the major event, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, whose activities go beyond football matches to being an occasion that highlights the State of Qatar and the Arab and Islamic region's modern and cultural side in the largest demonstration and global mobilization. This emphasizes the role of sport in upholding the values of respect, diversity, tolerance, peace, cooperation, and coexistence among people.
The security preparations that come at the heart of this event constitute the most important aspect of providing a safe environment to enjoy this global event. In the framework of reinforcing the security preparedness for hosting the tournament, the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will conduct a five-day exercise 'Watan', starting next Sunday, with the participation of the various military and civilian authorities concerned with hosting the tournament, each according to its competence, under the auspices of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, Head of the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the paper added.
Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the launch of the exercise 'Watan' this year, a few days before the start of the tournament, confirms the security and civil readiness of the various authorities of the country, and that the State of Qatar is prepared more than ever for an exceptional tournament.

The exercise confirms the extent of security and civil readiness of the various authorities of the country, in its comprehensiveness and diversity, to ensure a safe tournament for all. The exceptional capabilities that Qatar has made over the years to present a unique version of this tournament will truly be a milestone not only in the history of football but in the history of world sport as a whole.
In its editorial, The Peninsula newspaper said that the preparations that began ten years ago to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 have touched all aspects of development in the State of Qatar and now all facilities are ready to receive fans and visitors during the World Cup.
Under the headline "Ready to welcome fans", the paper referred to the Ministry of Municipality's announcement of the opening of eight beaches for the public on Nov.1 after refurbishing to welcome fans, visitors, and resident, adding that the Ministry has also explained that 18 beaches were undergoing renovation to provide necessary services for visitors.
Currently Qatar has 136 public parks and the government is giving due attention to increase the green areas in the country and protect wildlife and preserve environment, the paper said, noting that Umm Al Seneem Park, with the largest airconditioned walkways in the world, will open by the beginning of next month for fans of the World Cup.
In conclusion, The Peninsula said that the Public Parks Department in coordination with Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) made special focus on some parks such as Al Muntazah Park, 5/6 Park, Corniche Park and Al Bedda Park in providing more security.
On another topic, Al-Raya newspaper stressed in its editorial that achieving food security was and still at the top of the State of Qatar's priorities as part of its endeavors to be placed on the global map regarding food production, reaching the stage of self-sufficiency, and then exporting abroad.
The newspaper underlined the great efforts made by the State of Qatar to encourage investment in food security projects and increase the desire to achieve self-sufficiency and sustainability in this field, which has become a national mission, noting in this regard the country's celebration of World Food Day represented by the Ministry of Municipality. Qatar calls for promoting awareness of the importance of everyone to cooperate to ensure food security and proper nutrition for all, especially as the world is currently experiencing very difficult global conditions and challenges, the paper added.
The paper pointed out that political crises, economic and climatic conditions, wars and conflicts negatively affect the grain supply to many countries, which exacerbates the food crisis in many countries of the world, in light of climatic changes and rising temperatures, which negatively affect agriculture and production of food globally.
The newspaper added that the State of Qatar is making outstanding efforts in the field of supporting and strengthening the food security system, which resulted in winning, a few days ago, to chair the Executive Council of the Islamic Organization for Food Security for a period of three years, which is the culmination of these continuous efforts not only at the regional level, but also at the global and local levels.
The Qatari agricultural sector has achieved qualitative leaps in terms of production and quality thanks to the unlimited support of the wise leadership that attaches great importance to the agricultural sector which is entrusted with achieving food security in the country, as it supported Qatari farms and agricultural companies in order to contribute to increasing local production and reducing imports, thus achieving food security, especially in light of the State's tendency to self-reliance in industry and agriculture through the localization of food industries, the paper said.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar has made huge investments internally and externally in order to ensure its food security, and it always maintains a stable strategic stock, as it always seeks to keep enough basic commodities for at least six months. (QNA)
