Iran's Vice President for Economic Affairs Confirms Provision of Investment Opportunities for Qataris in Industrial and Commercial Sectors

Doha, October 17 (QNA) - HE Vice President for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Mohsen Rezaei, affirmed his country's keenness to enhance trade and investment cooperation with the State of Qatar, pointing out that Iran provides distinguished investment opportunities for Qatari investors in many sectors. His Excellency who is currently visiting the country, said during a meeting with members of the Qatari Businessmen Association that the Qatari investor can take advantage of the opportunities available in the industrial and commercial sectors in Iran, especially in light of the abolition of barriers and customs fees, noting that the Iranian market is rich in opportunities that can enhance economic relations between the two countries, as there are 90 million consumers in the Iranian market, and Iran is a member of major economic alliances of about 500 million consumers. His Excellency suggested to Qatari investors a number of projects, including investing in the agricultural sector, especially in wheat and corn, where there are ready-made lands that can provide more than 5 million tons of wheat, which can achieve self-sufficiency for Arab and Islamic countries. His Excellency noted the two countries' agreement on facilitating trade and achieving flow in trade and investment exchange. In this regard, he praised the positive role that the Qatari Businessmen Association can play in developing trade exchange between the two countries, by strengthening cooperation between Qatari and Iranian companies, which contributes to increasing the movement of trade between them. His Excellency pointed out that the Qatari and Iranian sides discussed in the meeting the possibility of enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector and for Qatari investors to benefit from the opportunities available in a number of Iranian cities, as well as reviewing ways to increase trade exchange between the two countries, and how to provide facilities to these investors in the agricultural and industrial sectors, and to solve the problems facing businessmen in both countries. For his part, the First Deputy Chairman of Qatari Businessmen Association Hussain Alfardan, stressed the keenness to strengthen economic and trade relations and develop trade exchange with the Iranian side, noting that there are many opportunities to enhance cooperation between the private sector in the two countries in many fields, especially in tourism, industry and trade, and there are many incentives and facilities provided by both Qatar and Iran.
