Speaker stresses efforts to host the biggest international parliamentary event

Manama, Oct. 19 (BNA): Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal met Shura Council First Deputy Chairman Jamal Mohammed Fakhro and the participating delegation in the 145th General Assembly and the 210th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The Speaker said that the legislative renaissance and the Parliamentary achievements at the local and international levels in Bahrain is a result of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa leadership. She said that Bahrain’s good reputation and achievements made the kingdom gain the trust to host the 146th meeting of IPU in March, which is considered as the biggest parliamentary meeting. Zainal discussed the delegation’s outcomes of its meeting with the IPU President Duarte Pacheco and other officials in the union, and praised the national committee’s effort to make the 146th meeting successful through organizing meetings with several organizations.
