Qatar Participates in World Health Summit (WHS) 2022

Berlin, October 20 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in World Health Summit (WHS) 2022 meetings, sessions and events, which wrapped up its activities in the German capital Berlin.
The delegation of the State of Qatar was headed by HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari.
During the sports and health session in the conference, HE Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari spoke about the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the work to lay a legacy as a model to ensure that the major sporting events will be healthy and secure in the future.
Her Excellency talked about the promotion of the awareness of the mental health and the "Friendship Seats" initiative to encourage the population and visitors to converge together, pointing out that the State of Qatar is the first country in the region to obtain the accreditation of healthy cities from World Health Organization (WHO), which enhances the health options for the population and visitors of the State of Qatar.
Her Excellency also participated in the closed roundtable on regionalization and global health- Implications of global jobs and cooperation- that was convened on the sidelines of the summit conference with the participation of actors from the various regions worldwide, including the African Union (AU), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union (EU).
During the session, Her Excellency underlined that the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, places great importance on the global health security, pointing out that the State of Qatar has provided the support to WHO, United Nations programs, and countries during the COVID-19 pandemic and other health emergencies to ensure continued access to medicines and vaccines, and health facilities, noting that stopping the spread of diseases requires collaborative global efforts.
On the sidelines of the conference, HE Minister of Public Health separately met with several delegations participating in the World Health Summit (WHS) 2022, including HE the Minister of Health in the Sultanate of Oman Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, HE the Minister of Health in Singapore, the Chairman of German Health Alliance (GHA) Roland Gohde and President of the Global Development Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Dr. Chris Elias.
During the meeting, they discussed the cooperation aspects in the health fields, in addition to discussing the most important topics of World Health Summit (WHS) 2022.
Moreover, at the panel discussion "From words to action for better noncommunicable disease outcomes" in which Director of the Public Health Department in the Ministry of Public Health Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani had participated, a wide range of topics were discussed, including the innovations and the good practices to upgrade the national capabilities in the presence of a host of policy makers and health leaders at the global level, including the young researchers and innovators.
The panel discussed the exploration of innovative approaches to prevent and control the noncommunicable diseases, such as the essential supplies related to NCD Alliance on Supporting Prevention & Control of NCDs to optimize the opportunities of accessing to the drug therapies of the noncommunicable diseases in pursuit of achieving the purposes of the sustainable development goals by 2030.
In addition, the State of Qatar's delegation participated in a broad range of sessions and events of the summit conference which discussed numerous vital topics, including investment for health and well-being, climate change and planetary health, pandemic preparedness and response structure, digital transformation in healthcare, food and health systems, health systems resilience and equity and global health for peace.
