Aussie tourist's death: high commission to receive body
Patna, Jun 6 (PTI) A representative of the Australian
High Commission is likely to arrive here on Monday to receive
the body of an Australian tourist, who was found dead under
mysterious circumstances at a private guest house in Khagaul,
on the outskirts of India's eastern state Bihar's capital
Patna.
The representative would receive the body of Osborne
Michel David (57) kept in the morgue of the Patna Medical
College and Hospital here, official sources said.
The body was likely to be buried here itself as no family
member of David seemed to be coming to take it, Senior
Superintendent of Police R Malaar Vizhi said.
The district authorities approached the High Commission
to receive the body after autopsy was done on June one, he
said.
The postmortem report has hinted at consumption of excess
liquor and drugs as the cause of the death, the sources said,
adding the Forensic Science Laboratory has been asked for the
viscera examination report.
David's body was found on May 31 when the police broke
open the door of his room after being called in by the guest
house manager as repeated knocks on the door went unanswered.
The tourist, who came from Melbourne, had checked in to
the guest house on May 29.
"No cut or other injury marks were seen on his body,"
sources said, adding a passport, some medical prescriptions
and medicines were found from the room. PTI AJK
