Doha, October 25 (QNA) - The Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council will conduct a webinar on "Innovation in action: What technological innovations can fans expect at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022?" on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022.
Exploring the innovations at the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the webinar, held as part of QRDI's "Spotlight On" series, will focus on the use of innovative technologies in improving the football experience for fans and players and cooling Qatar's World Cup stadiums.
During the discussion, participants will get an opportunity to learn about FIFA's implementation of various innovative technologies to improve the football experience for fans both on and off the pitch. Panelists will shed light on solutions including goal-line technology, video assistant referee, semi-automated offside system, and connected ball technology to enhance the football experience for key actors on the pitch.
The webinar will also explore how research supported by Qatar National Research Fund led to the design, testing, and development of a cooling technology being used in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums, which are the perfect example of striking architecture and Qatar's commitment to sustainable development.
Panelists include Mr. Sebastian Runge, Head of Football Technology at FIFA, and Dr. Saud Abdul-Aziz Abdul Ghani, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Qatar University.
QRDI's "Spotlight On" series continually highlights the successes, opportunities, and transformations in the local and global research, development, and innovation ecosystems. The series is aligned with the mission of the QRDI 2030 strategy to establish Qatar as a locally empowered and globally connected hub for innovation. (QNA)
