UNESCO Representative for Gulf States, Yemen Commends World Cup Hosting in Qatar

Doha, October 25 (QNA) - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative for the Gulf States and Yemen Salah El Din Zaki Khaled said that holding the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 for the first time on Arab soil serves as a strong message for all and is a real opportunity to bring together the countries of world based on the UN's main principles of living in peace and the cultural and social interconnection between world countries and peoples. In statements, Khaled told Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the World Cup's message is closely related to the State of Qatar's approach, which supports peace, sustainable development projects, and consolidates a culture of dialogue globally on all levels, through the United Nations, expressing his hope for a remarkable and distinctive tournament, in light of Qatar's recent distinguished preparations. The UNESCO Representative for the Gulf States and Yemen also commended the work of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs in organizing the United Nations Day anniversary ceremony in the Flag Plaza, pointing out that this celebration is an opportunity to celebrate the extended partnership between the State of Qatar and the United Nations, with the latter representing 193 countries worldwide, as well as an opportunity to celebrate contributions to adopt and support global peace causes.
