Yemen, IFAD discuss rural development activities in Mahrah

SANA'A, June 06 (Saba) - Yemen and International Fund of
Agricultural Development (IFAD) discussed here on Saturday
agricultural development activities being executed by the Rural
Development Project in Mahrah province.

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mansour al-Hawshabi reviewed
with head of the IFAD's mission in charge of evaluation the Rural
Development Project in Mahrah Shakib Balhassan the project's
activities in developing the animal wealth and the expansion in
planting various food crops in addition to its role in human
resource development.

Meanwhile, the meeting dealt with the project's contributions to
carrying out several rural roads projects and health units as well
as supporting the infrastructure projects in the province.

The Minister stressed on the importance to focus on supporting the
modern irrigation systems, planting new kinds of fruit and vegetable
crops and paying attention to the animal wealth to develop the
agricultural sector for enhancing its role in achieving the food
security.

The Rural Development Project in Mahrah is one of the strategic
projects aiming at improving living level of the small producers and
rural societies in the province.
