Arab Summit/ Algeria at Its Best in Preparation for Arab Summit, Liberation War Anniversary

Algiers, October 27 (QNA) - Flags of the 22 Arab countries have adorned the capital Algiers in preparation for hosting the 31st Arab Summit which coincides with Algeria's 68th National Liberation War anniversary, giving this Arab Summit a historical symbolism and turning it into an Arab wedding where participating countries share with Algeria the celebration of the liberation anniversary. The Arab Summit, which was postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held at Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center at the level of leaders on Nov. 1 and will be concluded the next day. The leaders' summit will be preceded by convening of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates and at the level of foreign ministers, in preparation for the work of the summit. November 1, 1954 represented a turning point in the history of Algerians' struggle against the occupation. On that day, a large-scale Algerian battle against the French occupation was launched, leading to the declaration of independence from France on July 5, 1962, and the declaration of the establishment of the Republic of Algeria on Sep. 25, 1962. The Algerian authorities have completed all preparations to host the Arab Summit, and have provided all the logistical means to ensure appropriate conditions to welcome the guests, to commensurate with the importance of the event which Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune described as a "new start for the Arab world" and emphasized to be successful as it is seeking to achieve Arab unity. Miniature models of the most prominent landmarks of the 22 Arab countries, including the Dome of the Rock mosque in Jerusalem, were established in the courtyard of the Great Mosque of Algiers. Many buildings in main and public roads were repainted on the occasion. The Algerian Ministry of Higher Education announced online learning for universities in the capital and the city of Tipasa during the summit. During his presentation of the general policy statement before the National Assembly recently, Algerian Prime Minister Ayman ben Abdel Rahman affirmed that the preparations for the Arab summit "are going in an excellent manner, in order to ensure all the appropriate conditions for its success." The Algerian media also launched a large promotional campaign for the 31st Arab Summit, focusing on the "reuniting Arab ranks" slogan raised by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The campaign highlighted the efforts made and the official invitations that were sent to all Arab leaders to participate in the Summit, where Algeria is awaiting a high level of representation. In the same context, Algerian Interior Minister Ibrahim Mourad decided during his recent meeting with the governor of Algiers to give all priority to the aesthetic appearance of the capital and its security, in preparation for receiving the Arab delegations participating in the summit, according to a statement by the Algerian Ministry of Interior. The Algerian Minister of Interior also met with officials of the security services to discuss arrangements related to securing the "important Arab event". During the meeting, he praised the efforts made by all security agencies and the level of operational readiness in preparation for welcoming Algeria's guests, calling for continued work to ensure all success conditions for this "historic date for Algeria". To secure the event, the Algiers authorities decided to close some roads during the Summit to ensure security and facilitate the movement of official delegations, most notably the airport road and the road leading to the International Conference Center. Head of Security and Public Order Cell at the Algerian Interior Ministry, Abdelkader Zarq, confirmed in a statement that the Ministry has harnessed all capabilities to provide the highest levels of security for the important Arab event, in full cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense and various security agencies through an operational plan based mainly on anticipation and following well-thought-out procedures in all aspects. About 3,500 workers in various municipalities have been working to decorate the capital since January to welcome the guests of Algeria during the Arab summit. (MORE) The first digital summit The Algeria summit will be the first fully digital Arab summit. Papers will not be used during all sessions, and high-speed internet will be provided to all attendees. According to the Algerian Ministry of Communication, journalists from 24 countries were accredited to cover the summit. In July, the Algerian Prime Minister attended the launch ceremony of the 31st Arab Summit electronic portal, stressing that it is an important part of the preparations for the summit, because it guarantees the media aspects related to the summit, and facilitates the registration of participating Arab delegations and informing them of all organizational measures. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), a member of the People's National Assembly (Lower Chamber) Dr. Berriche Abdelkader confirmed that the Algerian capital is decorated to host the Arab summit, and that Algeria is preparing to embrace its Arab brothers for Arab reunification. Abdelkader said that Algeria is getting brighter and more splendid with the arrival of its Arab brothers in a memory dear to Algeria and its brothers on Nov. 1, which coincides with the anniversary of the National Liberation War, and every Algerian opens his heart and arms to embrace the summit and his Arab brothers. Regarding the digitization of the summit for the first time, the Algerian parliamentarian stressed that the Arabs must be involved in the digital transformation system, and that the Arab Summit should be digital in its sessions and in its dealings with the media and the press, stressing that this digitization highlights the ability of Algeria and Arab countries to keep pace with technology and organize major events such as the Arab Summit using the latest technologies, and this is an honor for Algeria and the Summit. On the symbolism of the International Conference Center - Abdelatif Rahal hosting the Arab Summit, Dr. Berriche Abdelkader said that the international center is a facility that Algeria is proud of. It is capable of hosting major international and regional events and equipped with the latest technologies. He added that the International Conference Center was named after Abdelatif Rahala, in a tribute to the man who contributed to the liberation of the country, and also contributed to building an independent Algeria after the independence. He believed that the symbolism of the place and the date of the Arab summit will reflect positively on its outcome by achieving Arab unity and economic integration. In turn, mayor deputy of Ben Aknoun in the state of Algiers, Dr. Abdelrazaq Khaled said in an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the various municipalities of the capital have carried out a major decorating campaign during the past months, by decorating the main streets with flags and launching a beautification campaign in the streets and public parks in preparation for the pan-Arab event. The deputy mayor of Ben Aknoun stressed that Algiers is at its best while waiting for the Arab delegations participating in the Summit, as authorities have been working to overcome all obstacles and come up with a bright image that reflects the Algerian people's warm welcome of all Arab brothers. He underlined that choosing Abdelatif Rahal conference center to host the Arab Summit adds to the summit an atmosphere of Arab solidarity and unity that was embodied during the Algerian revolution. Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center The International Conference Center - Abdelatif Rahal, which hosts the work of the Arab Summit, is located in a strategic and touristic location in the municipality of Staoueli, on the western coastal side of Algiers, on a total area of 270,000 square meters. It is a magnificent architectural masterpiece that has been carefully designed according to the international standards to host various events at the local and international levels, in an environment that combines comfort and modernity. Abdelatif Rahal is the largest conference center in north Africa and is mainly divided into two buildings - a three-level administrative building, and the functional building which comprises various spaces to host events. The center includes a large conference hall called "Icosium" (the historical name of Algiers), with a capacity of 6000 seats. For media coverage and live broadcasting, the center includes several radio and television studios, and dozens of areas and offices designated for journalists, media professionals and translators.
