International Press Center Director-General to QNA: Algeria to Provide All Guarantees for Excellent Arab Summit Media Covering

Algiers, October 27 (QNA) - Algeria rounded off all media preparations for the 31st regular Arab League Council Summit due on Nov. 1-2, amid expectations of receiving about 300 Arab and foreign journalists along with the Algerian media. Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Director-General of Algeria's International Press Center Raouf Maamari said that Algeria completed all preparations to receive national, Arab and foreign media delegations. He added that the Centre International de Conferences Alger (CIC) - Abdullatif Rahal, the center to host the summit, was provided with all equipment that ensure an excellent covering. Maamari added that the CIC was provided with all technical equipment that facilitate local and foreign journalists' missions such as studios, press halls, media offices for official delegations, and live audiovisual broadcasting sites, as well as high-speed Internet service to ensure timely media airing. He added that the CIC includes 22 offices for media delegation accompanying official delegations, two fully equipped halls for printed and digital press, including more than 180 computers, as well as other supportive technologies and devices, and eight fully equipped audiovisual studios for local, Arab and foreign TV and radio stations in addition to other media and press facilities and equipment. Maamari highlighted the center's giant screens that enable a live airing of the Arab Summit's activities through the official Algerian television. He reiterated measures to facilitate a live broadcasting of media meetings by the stations approved to cover the summit. Hailing the forthcoming summit as the first-ever digital in the history of Arab League summits, Maamari said the summit will be fully covered through a digital cooperation between the media center and the media delegations. Maamari hailed the role of the Qatari media in covering the Arab Summit, stressing that the State of Qatar is an effective partner to the success of this summit. He also added that Algeria strives to make an exceptional Arab summit that enhances Arab solidarity and pushes joint Arab action towards broader horizons amid the challenges facing the region. State-owned media outlets in Algeria launched, a week ago, a huge campaign to promote the upcoming summit, focusing on slogans such as Arab Reunification and Arab Solidarity as well as other slogans reflecting the aspirations of all Algerians and Arabs. Algeria's Audiovisual Regulatory Authority urged, in a statement, local media outlets to keep pace with the Arab Summit. Local media outlets should "keep up with this important Arab event, starting with the preparations to following the activities and recommendations while respecting media and press regulations, standards and ethics as well as guaranteeing freedom of communication and expression and the right to information," the statement read. The statement called for all precautions and technical measures to be taken to ensure good and professional coverage and continuous broadcasting that respect viewers and provide permanent public service, especially in exceptional circumstances.
