Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, October 29 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers on Saturday rejected the provocative and irresponsible statements made by German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser regarding Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that those statements revealed that the raging campaigns against Qatar were still continuing. The Qatari dailies underlined that the State of Qatar will respond to all these lies by continuing its outstanding development path, enhancing its international standing, and organizing an exceptional World that highlights the region's civilization, culture and heritage. In its editorial, Qatari newspaper Al-Raya said that the pace and intensity of these false campaigns against Qatar were increasing, but these campaigns will be forgotten after the world sees the accomplishments made by Qatar on ground, and its achievements in building bridges between peoples of different cultures, races and nationalities. Qatar's organization of an exceptional tournament that sends messages of love, peace and coexistence, from Qatar and the Arabs to the peoples of the world, will reveal the real motives of the malicious, hypocritical and racists who are trying to take advantage of the momentum of the World Cup, Al-Raya said. "We see someone declaring that Qatar World Cup matches will not be broadcasted on big screens in his country while Qatar is the biggest investor in his largest sports club. And We will see a minister repeating the same slanders promoted by Western media against Qatar before visiting it or seeing the facts on the ground," Al-Raya said. The paper sent a strong message to Nancy Faeser demanding her not to make poisonous statements against Qatar World Cup for cheap fame or as a personal political card, being the least famous in the new government. The paper referred to the magnitude of challenges and difficulties faced by Qatar before its win to host the World Cup for the first time in the Arab region and the Middle East, turning the dream into a vibrant reality and cheers by the fans in the stadiums and when they arrive in Hamad International Airport, the best airport in the world. Days will prove the correctness of the Qatari vision in hosting the tournament to change the stereotyped image of the peoples of the region, which was originally drawn by Western media which see our region as nothing but arenas for wars and conflicts, Al-Raya said. "To the German minister: we want you to hear from us and not about us, and we want you to see with your own eyes, not what you want to be shown by media outlets that have a biased agenda against us. The State of Qatar did not limit its dreams to its geographical size and population, rather had a vision, a strong will and a deep faith, and most importantly the dare to dream big, and the ability and take the step that will make this dream a reality. Qatar was bold to the extreme," Al-Raya concluded. For its part, Al-Watan said that the statements of the German interior minister fall within the framework of the unprecedented campaign that Qatar has been subjected to since it won the honor of hosting the World Cup. These campaigns are escalating franticly with the approach of the tournament's launch. Al-Watan added that the German minister's statements were very strange, reprehensible, and unfortunate, ignoring all the recognition of Qatar's reforms by the most important human rights groups and United Nations organizations, which praised the State's reforms in the field of labor as effective and long-term measures, and a result of years of thoughtful planning. Qatar's reforms of labor laws and practices have been welcomed and have become an example at the international level. The paper noted that that the allegations of the German minister did not contradicted facts only, but also violated diplomatic norms and traditions, especially in light of the distinguished relations between Qatar and Germany in all fields. These statements fall within the framework of absolutely unconstructive interaction between friendly countries, discarding the facts completely with reprehensible and provocative statements to the Qatari people, aimed mainly at gaining domestic benefit at the expense of the relations with Qatar. Meanwhile, Qatari daily Al-Sharq denounced the statements made by the German interior minister regarding Qatar's hosting of the World Cup 2022 as reprehensible, provocative and disappointing statements. Since winning the bid to host the World Cup 2022, the State of Qatar has been subjected to unprecedented ferocious campaign of lies and slanders that no other host country has been exposed to over the years of tournament, Al-Sharq said. Qatar met these campaigns with good faith and adopted an open-door policy for anyone who seeks the truth. The State cooperated with all relevant parties, countries and organizations regarding the comprehensive package of reforms in the field of labor, prompting an international praise by the most human rights groups and United Nations organizations, the paper added. Al-Sharq noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned German Ambassador Dr. Claudius Fischbach and handed him an objection memo expressing Qatar’s disappointment and complete rejection and condemnation of the remarks made by German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser on Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup 2022. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also demanded a clarification for these remarks. The paper added that the rejected statements made by the German minister ahead of her official visit to Doha next week, against diplomatic norms and conventions, especially in light of the distinguished ties between the State of Qatar and Germany in all fields. The State of Qatar, which has overcame all campaigns since it won the right to host the World Cup, will respond to all these lies by continuing its amazing developmental path and enhancing its international standing, as well as by organizing an exceptional World Cup that highlights the region's civilization, culture and heritage, and its values of generosity, tolerance and respect for peoples, Al-Sharq concluded. For its part, Qatari English newspaper The Peninsula said that Qatar has almost returned to normalcy with further easing of rules on Ehteraz and tests for travelers, after long time of living under medical restrictions imposed to address COVID-19 pandemic. All this happened due to continuous efforts of the Ministry of Public Health and other state institutions which fought the battle against the global outbreak with tremendous success which was also recognized by the world organizations at numerous occasions, the paper stressed. The Peninsula noted that the Cabinet has eased COVID-19 rules related to Ehteraz app. Under the new rules, effective from Tuesday, November 1, green health status on Ehteraz app will be required to entre health facilities only.
