Yemen tries diplomat who forged nomination papers
SANA'A, June 07 (Saba) - A Yemeni national, who had been working as
a diplomat with forged nomination papers for two years, appeared in
court on Sunday.
Mohammed Saif al-Qadasi faces charges related to filing forged
nomination papers for the post of a Yemeni diplomat in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Qadasi is said to have forged the signatures of President, Prime
Minister, head of the Prime Minister's Office and Yemen's embassy in
the kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the stamp of the GCC
Secretariat.
He also faces charges related to financial rights estimated at $
954000 and other privileges he experienced during 2007-2009 while on
his disapproved job.
Under the forgery, al-Qadasi would work until 2015.
Hearing charges on Sunday in the Specialized Penal Court, the
accused denied charges against him, saying he was imprisoned
illegally and asking his lawyer to defend him.
The hearing was adjourned until next Sunday to show evidence against
him.
Al-Qadasi was arrested late in March.
After the Yemeni authorities knew about his forged nomination
papers, he was summoned to the capital, Sana'a, and informed that he
would arrive in the country to do some responsibilities.
But as he landed in the Sana'a International Airport, police seized
him.
During his work in Riyadh, al-Qadasi lied on the Yemeni people in
the Kingdom, telling them that he could serve them.
He misled Yemenis that he had strong ties with security authorities
in homeland to deceive them and get personal interests.
