Speaker of Algeria's People's National Assembly to QNA: HH the Amir's Participation in Arab League Contributes to Achieving Desired Goals

Algiers, November 01 (QNA) - HE Speaker of People's National Assembly (Parliament's Lower House) of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Brahim Boughali stressed that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the 31st Arab Summit in Algeria, due to kick off at a later time Tuesday, is a clear evidence of the State of Qatar's keenness to contribute effectively to achieving the desired objectives of this summit. In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency said that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has always demonstrated his keenness on the necessity of Arab unity, and his defense of Arab interests in various forums is well-known, adding that his participation will undoubtedly give a momentum for the work of this summit. In any case, His Highness the Amir will come to Algeria, and His Highness will be celebrated by Algerians who are his brothers, and we expect his role to be influential in the outcomes of this summit, which will serve the Arab world, His Excellency said. His Excellency Brahim Boughali stressed that Qatar’s presence in Algeria with an important and distinguished delegation also affirms the depth of bilateral relations owing to decades of cooperation. His Excellency added that the number of agreements, memoranda of understanding and protocols signed by the two countries is sufficient to see that bilateral relations are elevated to a high level of partnership. His Excellency added that the close relations between Algeria and Qatar were embodied on the political, economic, cultural and sports levels by many agreements, and all of this was the result of long years of brotherhood and joint cooperation. The cooperation between both countries has become more powerful in recent years following a series of mutual visits between the leaderships of both countries, His Excellency noted, adding that these meetings resulted in the signing of several agreements that boosted the Qatari presence in Algeria to the extent that made it the first Arab investor in Algeria. HE Speaker of People's National Assembly added that the reality of cooperation between both countries can be summarized in the elevation of the bilateral relations from the stage of purely bilateral cooperation to the stage of the ambitious strategic partnership. On the level of parliamentary relations between both countries, His Excellency called for the need for further efforts to elevate these relations to the required level. Amid the growing relations between our two countries, we have legitimate aspirations to enhance cooperation to higher levels, particularly within the frameworks of the parliamentary friendship group, which are one of the excellent mechanisms of communication because it allows mutual meetings and helps to exchange important experiences. His Excellency said Algeria wants to make the 31st Arab Summit a milestone for Arab reunification, as it will be an opportunity for Arab leaders to raise all the issues that the region is concerned with in a clear and transparent framework that enables the crystallization of a consensual vision of joint action in which the countries of the region can face the current challenges at various levels. I think that Algeria has taken all measures to make this summit succeed, and it is certainly ready to work with all the participants in the summit to come up with resolutions that reflect a unified vision in line with the requirements of the current situation, particularly with regard to the Palestinian issue, which must remain the central issue for Arabs, His Excellency said. His Excellency also stressed addressing issues of development, cooperation and economic security to impose Arab presence in a world that is being shaped in the form of poles and blocs fiercely defending their interests. His Excellency reiterated statements by HE President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune that Algeria has no objectives behind organizing this summit other than reaching a reunion and resurrecting the potential power in the Arab countries and peoples and the necessity to play a pivotal role. Algeria has spared no effort to overcome controversial issues, and invest in all points of intersection and the many common denominators, His Excellency noted, stressing that Arabs are able to overcome all obstacles and adopt policies in the interest of their countries. His Excellency said that it is now time for Arabs to arrange their priorities and restructure themselves to be a heavyweight globally. To reach this, His Excellency explained, Algeria depends on the awareness of Arab countries and the mechanisms of joint Arab action as the first step to restore Arab nation's prestige internationally. His Excellency hailed the 2021 Shura Council elections as a distinguished step and a fresh start that reflects the State of Qatar's democratic approach. Commenting the State of Qatar's hosting of the 140th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and associated meetings in 2019, His Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar's hosting of this important event has many meanings that we are proud of as Arabs, and the first of these indications is that its choice stems from the certainty that Qatar has an influential role in resolving conflicts and crises in a world full of conflicts and turmoil. His Excellency said that Qatar's success in hosting the 140th session of the IPU prove that it is a country that possesses competencies capable of managing vital conferences, and that it also has a policy that has a positive resonance that made it trusted by all. This success enhanced the exemplary image of Qatar as a hospitable and peace-loving country capable of providing what is required in conflict resolution, His Excellency added. Algeria and Qatar regularly participate in several international and regional parliamentary forums, amid continuous coordination and consultation between the delegations of both countries, His Excellency said. His Excellency stressed pan-Arab common denominators that must be employed to give a boost to the common proposal, particularly amid the many mechanisms to defend views, and therefore I think that there is still room to consider the best ways to intelligently exploit them to serve our interests and enhance our positions, particularly towards the crucial issues of the nation. His Excellency said that common denominators and the single destiny prompt parliamentarians to develop a unified Arab vision, because all Arabs belong to one region and face the same challenges, adding that the complicated global situation created Arab awareness of the need to defend common interests, highlighting that these issues will top the priorities of Algeria Summit. Commenting on the Qatari position backing the Palestinian cause, His Excellency said the size of the role played by the State of Qatar in supporting the Palestinian cause and its full support for the Palestinians against Israeli escalation is clear, and this is manifested during participation in several international and regional forums. At this sensitive time that the Arab nation is going through, the State of Qatar demonstrated a sincere determination to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that meets the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and allows the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, His Excellency said. His Excellency noted that Qatar and Algeria should continue to work to push the Palestinian cause to the forefront, so that the international community assumes its responsibilities to activate all necessary measures to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. HE Brahim Boughali highlighted the State of Qatar's important role and efforts to bring peace to the region and the world, most notably its role in achieving peace in Chad through the Doha Peace Agreement in Chad, stressing that it paves the way for a dialogue for comprehensive national reconciliation. The signing of the Doha Peace Agreement in Chad was a new proof of the efficacy of peaceful means in resolving conflicts, and Qatar's mediation of negotiations is an affirmation of its continuous approach to supporting international mediation efforts and resolving disputes through peaceful means, His Excellency said, noting that Algeria adopts the same position and Chadian national reconciliation is essential for establishing security, peace and stability in the region. He pointed out that Algeria encourages the parties to enhance a consensual transition towards the actual and permanent restoration of the constitutional order, which remains the only way to achieve the legitimate aspirations of the people and to avoid the dangers posed by the current situation to peace and stability in this country, with which Algeria has fraternal relations based on solidarity and cooperation. His Excellency concluded that Qatar is making history by hosting the first World Cup in the Arab world, the Middle East and the Islamic world, noting that Qatar remained steadfast against external pressures while preparing for the world's largest sporting event. His Excellency further hailed the State of Qatar for organizing the World Cup in the name of all of Arabs. His Excellency said that football is more than a sport and hosting the most watched global event will make the Arab region the focus of attention for more than a month, adding that Qatar's organization of the World Cup will give Arabs an opportunity to change the stereotypical image of Arab countries and societies among other peoples. Arabs will be at the center of global attention and this is the strategic dimension of the event. It is simply what is called sports diplomacy and in the era of globalization it has become a powerful tool for making a place on the international scene, His Excellency said. Qatar is a country of tolerance, coexistence and peace, and it has proven this on several occasions, His Excellency concluded, stressing that Qatar will make miracles. (QNA)
