Arab Summit/ Algerian Ambassador to QNA: We Appreciate HH the Amir's Participation in Algeria's Arab League Summit

Doha, November 01 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the State of Qatar Dr. Mustafa Boutoura expressed appreciation for the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the 31st regular session of the Arab League Summit, in response to the invitation of HE President of People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune. In an exclusive interview, His Excellency told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the acceptance of HH the Amir to the invitation of HE Algerian President to participate in the 31st session of the summit proves the depth of Algerian-Qatari relations and strength of ties that bring together the leaders of the two countries, who are working to strengthen these relations for the benefit and interest of the two brotherly countries. HE Algerian Ambassador described the Qatari-Algerian relations as historic, stressing that a continuous and growing development is taking place in various fields in light of the directives of the wise leaderships of the two countries. Relations between the two countries are based on a bright historical background, and are currently witnessing a continuous development, especially since the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Algeria in February 2020, and the visit of HE President of People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the State of Qatar in February 2022, he added. Dr. Boutoura affirmed that these relations were further strengthened by the participation of HH the Amir in the opening of the Mediterranean Games in Oran in June 2022. From this standpoint, the bilateral relations between the two countries have seen a great development in many fields, foremost of which is the significant cooperation in the economic field and investment, he added. His Excellency indicated that the visit of HE Algerian President to the State of Qatar, in response to the invitation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in February, attained a great importance and gave a strong and great impetus to the distinguished bilateral relations at all levels. That visit culminated in the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding at the level of political consultation, and legal and judicial cooperation, in addition to the field of higher education and scientific research, and social and family development, as well as partnership in the industrial sector, he said, adding that this opens new horizons for bilateral cooperation in all fields, which reflects the great potential that the two countries have, and for the benefit and common interests of Algeria and Qatar, as well as their peoples. Dr. Boutoura noted that bilateral relations between officials of the two countries at all levels are characterized by their keenness on periodic and permanent consultation in approaching various regional and international issues, which was strengthened through the political consultation mechanism at the level of the two countries' foreign ministers, pointing out the document that HE Algerian President signed during his visit to the State of Qatar. He also noted that the two countries share views on many issues, most notably of which is the Palestinian cause, as both countries support the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with Al-Quds as its capital, adding that the two countries also agree in their approach to the Libyan crisis by emphasizing support for the political process under UN auspices and the necessity of making the electoral process and the national reconciliation project a success on the path to achieving stability in the country. On Algeria's efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation, which culminated in the signing of the '13 October Declaration of Algiers', His Excellency said that based on Algeria's commitment to the principle of its positions towards the issues of the Arab nation and the just issues in the world, as well as Algeria's awareness of the magnitude of the current international challenges, HE Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced an initiative to unite the Palestinians under his auspices and direct supervision. His Excellency affirmed that the Republic of Algeria has sought and made strenuous efforts for several consecutive months in order to achieve Palestinian unity in the service of the steadfast Palestinian people and their just cause. These endeavors and efforts culminated in Algeria's declaration of reconciliation between all Palestinian factions in the reunification conference for the achievement of national unity held on Oct. 13, 2022, which witnessed the declaration of an independent Palestinian state in 1988, he said, pointing out the issuance of a decision to consider the Palestine Liberation Organization the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people at the 6th Arab Summit hosted by Algeria in November, 1973. Algeria's declaration constitutes an advanced step to achieve Palestinian national unity, which contributes to the unity of the Arab ranks and the strengthening of the mechanisms of joint Arab action during the Arab summit in Algeria, he said, adding that the Arab public opinion puts great hopes on these outcomes, in the interest of the entire Arab nation. In response to a question regarding the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which coincides with the Arab Summit, HE Dr. Mustafa Boutoura said that this tournament is a source of pride for all Arabs, as well as people around the globe, in light of the preparations made by the State of Qatar over the past years. Since it was given the honor to organize the 2022 World Cup, the State of Qatar has allocated great resources to construct sports facilities of high international standards and huge base facilities in the field of hospitality and entertainment, as well as the road network, transportation, and others, he added. He also noted that these projects and facilities were accompanied by significant achievements and major steps in terms of organizational capabilities and preparations in order to secure the tournament, manage crowds and cybersecurity, as well as through the electronic services that it will provide to visitors during the World Cup. The State of Qatar demonstrated its organizational and security capabilities during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, which was an impressive edition that received the praise and admiration of people around the globe, he said. Qatar has also seen remarkable success, whether at the sports level or through the cultural and distinguished events accompanying the tournament, which is an indication of the enormous efforts made by the competent authorities in order to achieve full preparedness to host the world's biggest sporting event that is the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held in an Arab country for the very first time.
