Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, November 03 (QNA) - In their Thursday editorials, Qatari newspapers praised the support of Arab leaders for the State of Qatar to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The Algeria Declaration, issued by the 31st session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, affirmed the support of the State of Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and its full confidence in its ability to organize a distinguished version of this global event. Additionally, the declaration issued stressed its absolute rejection of the malicious distortion and skepticism campaigns against Qatar, the newspapers said. The newspapers unanimously agreed that this regional and international support and appreciation that Qatar enjoys is a big motivator for Doha to present an exceptional and memorable version of the World Cup, symbolizing cultural exchange, promoting values of peace, coexistence, and rapprochement among people, to build mutual respect. In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper said that less than 17 days before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Doha received great Arab and Islamic support in the face of malicious, racist campaigns, which have been ongoing for 12 years. Although these suspicious parties acknowledge that the Qatar World Cup is a reality, they still, unfortunately, continues its smear campaign by spreading lies and falsifying facts, which called for a strong Arab and Islamic response in support of Qatar's efforts to host the World Cup and expose those lies. The Algeria Declaration, issued by the 31st session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, affirmed the support of the State of Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and its full confidence in its ability to organize a distinguished version of this global event, the paper said. The Algeria Declaration also stressed its absolute rejection of the malicious distortion and skepticism campaigns against Qatar, noting that Arab and Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) support for the State of Qatar in the face of false campaigns cannot be overlooked. In a strong statement, the OIC affirmed its support for the State of Qatar in hosting the World Cup as the first member state in the Islamic world to host such an event with its humanitarian and global contents aimed at spreading the spirit of solidarity and interdependence among countries, the paper added. Al-Raya concluded by saying that in a few days, the dream will come of hosting the World Cup in Qatar, a huge sports carnival that will be launched to impress everyone, showcasing Qatar's 12-year-long preparation for this global event. Qatar has provided all possibilities for a successful global football event in appropriate and comfortable conditions, and all guarantees of respecting the conditions for organizing this major global event with FIFA's testimony, thus, confirming Qatar's professionalism in dealing with major tournaments and its worthiness for this honor through optimal preparation for this global event at all levels. Qatar does not leave anything to chance but is well prepared through proper planning and meticulous execution with success always on its side. On the other hand, Al-Sharq newspaper confirmed that the Algeria Declaration, issued by the 31st session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, which concluded on Wednesday, affirmed the support of the State of Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and its full confidence in its ability to organize a distinguished version of this global event. Additionally, the declaration issued stressed its absolute rejection of the malicious distortion and skepticism campaigns against Qatar. Al-Sharq considered that this strong message sent by Their Excellencies and Highnesses, the Arab countries leaders, symbolizes the spirit of Arab solidarity, standing united in facing and defending the Arab nation's challenges and issues. The 31st Arab Summit expressed the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria's objective of reunion, where the outcomes of the summit and the positions contained in the Algeria Declaration affirmed the success of the summit in producing results that will transfer joint Arab action to broader horizons that meet the aspirations of the Arab countries' people in development and prosperity and support security and peace in the region. The supportive Arab stance for the State of Qatar in the face of skepticism campaigns comes from the extension of similar strong positions, at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) or OIC level, affirming its support for the State of Qatar in the face of the smear campaign targeting it for hosting of the World Cup, as the first member state in the Islamic world. The same position was echoed by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) on Wednesday, affirming its solidarity with the State of Qatar, and its support and standing by it in the face of the suspicious campaign from some circles, the paper added. In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the regional and international appreciation and support that Qatar enjoys is the biggest motivator for Doha to present an exceptional and memorable World Cup, symbolizing cultural exchange, and promoting the values of peace, coexistence, and rapprochement between peoples to build mutual respect. Under the headline "Advocating Arab solidarity", the English-language newspaper The Peninsula said in its editorial that the State of Qatar has been a staunch advocate of joint Arab action to promote sustainable development and peace in the region and overcome challenges facing the Arab world. HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in the opening session of the 31st Arab League Summit in Algiers, Algeria, shows the importance Qatar attaches to this forum of the Arab world, the paper said. On the sidelines of the summit, HH the Amir held meeting with a number of leaders including President of Iraq Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al Burhan. They reviewed bilateral relations between the brotherly countries and ways to develop and strengthen them, and discussed a number of developments of mutual interest, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent topics on the summit's agenda, the paper added. The paper underlined that HH the Amir's visit to Algiers also included engagements at the bilateral level, as HH the Amir along with President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated an Algerian Qatari-German hospital project, set to be established in Algeria. The two leaders also inaugurated a steel plant project of the Algerian-Qatari Steel Company, one of the largest companies in the production of iron and steel in the Arab world. The Algiers summit also comes days ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the first world cup in the Middle East and the Arab world. Hosting the tournament is indeed an honour for the entire Arab world. The world cup is also an opportunity for the world to know the Arab culture, heritage and civilization, The Peninsula concluded. In turn, Al-Watan newspaper said that the Palestinian cause received the greatest attention during the 31st Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, which coincided with two important and significant events, the 105th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, and the victory of former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's camp in the Knesset elections, which will enable him and his most extremist camp to form the next government, which means that there will be negative repercussions on the overall situation in the Middle East, foremost of which is the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. The newspaper said in its editorial that the Israelis' vote for Netanyahu's camp is a vote for extremism, violence and no-solution, adding that on the other hand, the Palestinian side have no ability to respond, especially in light of the prevailing state of division. Despite the importance of what was issued by the Arab summit in terms of emphasizing the support of the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to establish their independent state, the continuation of the Palestinian division will not lead to any positive results at all, in terms of investing Arab support in light of the state of fragmentation that benefited the Israelis, the paper added. The paper stressed that the reform of the Palestinian house is of particular importance more than ever, in order to face difficult challenges, most notably the return of the Israeli extremist right, and what this means in terms of freezing any solution that can be reached. In this regard, Al-Watan appreciated the Algerian efforts aimed at achieving Palestinian reconciliation, and Algeria's firm stances in support of the Palestinian cause, which is the cause of all Arabs.
