Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, November 08 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers underlined in their editorials on Tuesday Qatar's readiness to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as the first Arab and Muslim country. The Qatari dailies affirmed that the State of Qatar will prove its worthiness and ability to organize the largest sporting event in the world, noting that fans will experience memorable times at the eight World Cup stadiums that offer a unique image of a region rich of culture and heritage, while providing state-of-the-art services. The papers denounced the escalating malicious campaigns and false allegations against the State of Qatar, stressing that these systematic campaigns which aim to undermine Qatar's reputation and spoil the World Cup will all fail after football fans from around the world witness Qatar's success. Locally, the newspapers highlighted Qatar's keenness on developing and improving government performance to serve the interests of the Qatari people through achieving good governance based on the directives of the wise leadership, stressing that Qatar continues to build its renaissance and fulfill the aspirations of its people according to its National Vision gives priority to the people as the main engine of the development. For its part, Qatari newspaper Al-Watan underlined that fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be on a date with eight World Cup stadiums designed with Qatari, Arab and Islamic heritage imprints, reflecting the culture of the entire Arab region, to provide fans from all over the world with a unique glimpse of a region rich in its culture and heritage, in addition to providing the latest state-of-the-art technology to spend unforgettable times. Al-Watan highlighted Qatar's commitment to organize the first carbon-neutral World Cup, which is impressive and enthusiastic, especially since this important sporting event is briefly preceded by the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), where participating leaders and officials emphasized the serious repercussions of global warming; adding: "When Qatar presents the whole world with its first carbon-neutral World Cup, it will not only contributes to climate protection, but also sets an example on how to link words with deeds." In conclusion, Al-Watan denounced the hatred campaigns against the State of Qatar, which only reflect arrogance and racism as described by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani who expressed Qatar’s resentment of the double standards as it has been facing a systematic campaign since it was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup. Meanwhile, Al-Sharq said that while malicious campaigns and false allegations against the State of Qatar are still escalating, they uncover the lies and policy of double standards. The paper added that these systematic campaigns aim to undermine Qatar's reputation and spoil the World Cup, but they will be faced by the success of Qatar and football fans who will witness this success. The State of Qatar meets these false claims and malicious allegations with clear achievements on the ground, as confirmed by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani who stressed that Qatar has been facing a systematic campaign over 12 years, Al-Sharq stressed. Football fans affirmed their condemnation of the adoption of double standards and the deliberate political recruitment to deal with Qatar World Cup, and they affirmed their right to follow the World Cup without politicization, Al-Sharq said, adding that the State of Qatar, as an Arab Muslim country, has the right to organize the World Cup and prove its worthiness and capabilities to organize the largest sporting event in the world. Locally, Al-Raya newspaper stressed in its editorial that the State of Qatar is constantly developing and improving its government to serve the interests of the Qatari people through good governance based on the directives of the supreme leadership, providing all forms of support to ministries and government institutions to carry out their duties well and pushing the process of sustainable development forward, according to their competence. In this regard, the newspaper pointed out the 12th issue of the Official Gazette published on the organizational structure of 15 ministries. The Amiri Decisions affected namely, the ministry of foreign affairs, education and higher education, public health, endowments and Islamic affairs, justice, commerce and industry, municipality, environment and climate change, administrative development, labour and social affairs, culture, sports and youth, transportation, communications and information technology, where the organizational structure of these ministries included a number of changes, including the creation of new positions and departments and the abolition of others to improve the performance of these ministries and government agencies in line with the development taking place in the State of Qatar at various levels. Al-Raya explained that the State of Qatar has taken into account, by restructuring relevant ministries, the requirements of the current stage that need more specialization to develop government performance, new government sectors, as well as preparing for the future and taking into account the interests of future generations that requires advanced planning and preparation, based on well-thought-out long-term strategies and plans. The newspaper pointed out that the organizational structure layout of ministries was consistent with the priorities of the Qatar National Vision 2030. After studying and comparing with the best international practices according to the requirements of the current situation, the updates in the new organizational structure include the distribution of competencies in a manner that ensures the correct utilization of resources and avoid overlapping of competencies for each ministry according to their nature of work to achieve the vision of the concerned ministries and add the element of innovation as a key element in the governmental tasks through planning, quality and innovation management. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar is experiencing a comprehensive renaissance at all levels. To maintain the continuity of this renaissance, development, and construction in Qatar, Qatar is always keen on continuously developing the government performance. The new organizational structure of the concerned ministries reflects the state's orientation towards following international standards, analyzing and managing institutional risks, and providing technical support for speedy decision-making by their Excellencies the Ministers. For its part, the English-language newspaper, The Peninsula, highlighted in its editorial titled "Protecting delivery workers", the General Directorate of Traffic's (GDT) announcement of the new process for order-delivery-designated motorcycles. The new process aims to regulate the movement of road users, within the framework of the efforts of GDT and its keenness to enhance road safety. In this context, the newspaper cited Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Radi Al Hajri's statements that these measures have been implemented based on the recommendations of a workshop organized by the directorate with the relevant authorities, including several requirements for the driver, the motorcycle, and the container. The Peninsula concluded that these measures will be implemented as of Nov. 11, 2022. Owners of the relevant companies have been urged to abide by the new measures and requirements. (QNA)
