Doha, November 11 (QNA) - In its editorial on Friday, Qatari newspapers shed light on the completion of all preparations for the for the launch of the starting whistle of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, pointing out to the projects that were inaugurated Thursday, by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, represented in the new expansion of Hamad International Airport (HIA), the inauguration of Hamad Port Visitor Center and the launching of "Mwanina" system.
The newspapers dealt with the Country's readiness to receive the World Cup guests and the beginning of a new phase of growth, and that all the projects that were implemented within the World Cup preparations keep pace with the Country's plans to transform Qatar into a regional commercial center in the region.
In its Friday editorial, Al-Raya affirmed that Qatar has become a global transit station and a reliable destination in the travel market, considering Hamad International Airport an international travel icon, and Qatar's gift to the world, adding that HIA won the title of "Best Airport in the World" for the second year in a row after it ranked first in the Skytrax 2022 World Airport Awards thanks to the service excellence and experience it provides to its passengers, that is why Qatar attaches great importance to HIA because of its great impact in connecting Qatar with the world.
Al-Raya added that HIA is Qatar's gateway to arrivals, whether during the World Cup, as well as the post-World Cup stage, as Qatar seeks to lead in the air transport market. HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani inaugurated, in this regard, the new expansion of Hamad International Airport (HIA). his Excellency toured the new passenger terminals and was briefed on their capacities in terms of receiving incoming and departing passengers, as well as the modern system used, which reflect Qatar's readiness to receive its guests.
The newspaper pointed out that HIA has established its leading position globally as an example of a successful and sustainable global airport, thanks to its advanced global operating systems, lounges and facilities that greatly increase its capacity, which qualifies it to be an exceptional destination in the aviation market.
Al-Raya said that the new expansion project for the airport, which was launched before the World Cup, will enable it to play its leading role in serving passengers, and it is now ready to receive more than 58 million passengers annually, adding that when talking about Qatar's preparations to receive its guests, especially from the World Cup fans, through HIA, we cannot ignore the great interest that the government attaches to Hamad Port, Qatar's maritime window to the world, which has become enjoying the latest global technological methods, as HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior inaugurated the Hamad Port Visitor Center.
In the same context, in its editorial today, Al-Watan newspaper reviewed the inauguration of the new expansion of Hamad International Airport (HIA) by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, as His Excellency toured the new passenger terminals and was briefed on their capacities in terms of receiving incoming and departing passengers, as well as the modern system used. He was also briefed on the various facilities and equipment and the related development in all operational processes in order to receive travelers, Qatar's guests, and fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The newspaper stressed that the airport expansion project and its new facilities, will provide completely new experiences for travelers, and is now ready to welcome more than 58 million passengers annually.
Al-Watan indicated that the works of the first phase of the expansion of HIA are ready with the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Phase B, which is scheduled to start in early 2023, will raise the airport’s capacity to more than 70 million passengers annually, by building two new areas within the existing building.
Under the title "Ambitious Projects for the Future of Qatar", Al-Sharq newspaper confirmed in its Friday editorial that the ambitious projects inaugurated by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Thursday, reflect the country's readiness to receive the World Cup guests and the beginning of a new phase of growth and construction in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030 to build a diversified and sustainable economy.
The newspaper pointed out that the new expansion at Hamad International Airport constitutes a qualitative leap that will dazzle the world and enhance the position of the airport, which has enjoyed an international reputation for years.
The newspaper indicated that the new expansion will transfer the experience of traveling through Doha International Airport to an unprecedented level of luxury thanks to the high flow of traffic, and the impressive recreational facilities built inside it, such as green spaces, water bodies, and a tropical garden with more than 300 trees and more than 25,000 plants brought from sustainable forests from all over the world, what makes it an attractive tourist facility in addition to being a developed economic facility.
Al-Sharq concluded by saying that the new projects constitute an economic lever that keeps pace with the state's plans to transform Qatar into a regional commercial center in the region.
The newspaper highlighted the importance of the new projects in supporting green initiatives and environmentally friendly systems by reducing reliance on paper and eliminating manual intervention, delays and errors that result from that, which contributes to raising performance and productivity indicators and supports the national economy and commercial movement along with the development of logistics services in the State of Qatar.
In turn, the English-language newspaper, The Peninsula, sheds light on the expansion of Hamad International Airport which was awarded the Best Airport in the World 2022 after winning the Skytrax Award, adding that HIA continues to impress with its innovative planning, execution and investment, enhancing its position as the preferred hub for global travelers and reinforcing HIAs position among the top in the industry.
The newspaper affirmed that the opening of our newly expanded terminal further connects the growing number of travelers to all corners of the world, enriching people’s experiences and proudly representing the State of Qatar’s rich culture and prestige.
The Peninsula pointed out that during the various stages of its development, Hamad International Airport took the leading role that awaits it when hosting the World Cup, and HIA continues to transform the industry with innovative experiences and breathtaking features as the airport looks to a bright, sustainable future.
The newspaper confirmed that HIA, in collaboration with Qatar Museums, offered passengers ‘Discover the Art of the Airport’, which is a unique walking tour through an immersive experience where guests can view impressive sculptures and art installations by leading artists from around the world.
