Saudi Official speaks at International Labor Organization's 98th Session
Geneva, June 08, SPA -- Under Secretary of Saudi Arabia's Labor
Ministry for planning and development Dr Mufrij Al-Hakbani said
Monday a great attention was given to the global economic crisis and
its repercussions on the labor market at the 98th session of the
International Labor Organization, currently in progress in Geneva.
In a press statement, he said most of the working papers pointed out
that the economic crisis has directly affected the rates of
unemployment in several countries of the world, notably the countries
of central and eastern Europe and some Latin American countries.
Al-Hakbani said the crisis will continue despite the positive
indications of the world economy.
He noted that the discussions at the conference showed that the
impact of the global economic crisis on the GCC member states was
very minor and limited compared to the other countries.
The impact of the crisis on the gulf labor market notably on the
Kingdom’s labor market is very little and no cases of collective
termination of service for the employees of the private sector were
reported.
This has provided a clear evidence for the strength of the Saudi
economy, and the capability of the Saudi financial policy of
confronting the crisis efficiently, he added.
