Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, November 30 (QNA) - In their Wednesday editorials, the Qatari newspapers highlighted the signing of QatarEnergy with ConocoPhillips affiliates for the delivery of up to 2 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG from Qatar to Germany, which once again, reflects QatarEnergy's current global position as a major player in the global energy market.
The newspapers emphasized that this agreement reinforces Qatar's leading role in LNG as the world's largest exporter of gas. So far, thanks to its articulated plans and coordinated strategy, it has been able to meet the needs of many global markets and continues its transition toward clean energy.
On the other hand, the newspapers noted the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which fell on Tuesday, Nov. 29, constituting an important occasion to mobilize support for the Palestinian cause, remind the international community of its justice and that it remains unresolved, despite the passage of decades and the issuance of many relevant international resolutions.
The newspapers stressed that the State of Qatar considers the Palestinian cause its first issue and the core of its foreign policy. Qatar has used all international platforms to remind of the usurped rights of the brotherly people who suffer from the oldest occupation in the world.
In its editorial, Al-Arab newspaper said that QatarEnergy's agreement with ConocoPhillips affiliates for the delivery of up to 2 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG from Qatar to Germany, reflects QatarEnergy's current global position as a major player in the global energy market.
This agreement is momentous because it marks the first-ever long-term LNG supply to Germany with a supply period that extends for at least 15 years, thus contributing to Germany’s long-term energy security and providing reliable and credible LNG supply solutions to customers across the globe, the paper said.
The new agreement is an extension of previous agreements signed by QatarEnergy and other countries, including China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) to deliver 4 million tons annually of LNG to China for 27 years starting from 2026. Additionally, Qatar and many countries have a close partnership in the LNG field to meet their growing energy demands, consolidating Qatar's position and maintaining its leading position in the global energy market, the paper said.
Al-Arab concluded by saying that during the past two years, the State of Qatar has strengthened its dominance over LNG, becoming the largest exporter of gas in the world. Thanks to its well-articulated plans and coordinated strategy, it has been able to meet the needs of many global markets. Qatar also continues its transition toward clean energy and reduction of carbon emissions by adopting the highest environmental standards in the gas industry by using the latest advanced methods in carbon sequestration to support the green economy globally.
In its turn, Al-Watan newspaper said, in its editorial, that Qatar has proven its great keenness to provide reliable and credible LNG supply solutions to customers across the globe, and today, to German end-consumers after signing two long-term LNG sale and purchase agreements (SPAs) between QatarEnergy and ConocoPhillips affiliates for the delivery of up to 2 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG from Qatar to Germany, with a supply period that extends for at least 15 years, thus contributing to Germany’s long-term energy security. This is a concrete demonstration of QatarEnergy’s resolve to provide reliable energy supplies to all major markets around the world, and of its commitment to the German people.
HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi underlined that the State of Qatar separates politics from trade, stressing Qatar's commitment to energy security in Europe and Germany, and that it has demonstrated this commitment through significant investments in various phases of the gas industry, which included projects to raise LNG production capacity in Qatar, the paper added.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that this commitment has always been proven by Qatar as a reliable partner in supporting energy security, separating this issue from any political issue, which made it a source of confidence for consumers all over the world. This agreement, in addition to continuing to talk with German buyers regarding additional supplies, as explained by HE Eng. Al Kaabi, once again proves Qatar's high capabilities and its concern for the interests of consumers.
In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that the "International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People", which observed on November 29 t, is an important occasion to mobilize support for the Palestinian cause and to remind the international community of the justice of the Palestinian cause and that it is still unresolved.
The newspaper pointed out that the State of Qatar participated in the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which was held yesterday at the Arab League Secretariat General headquarters, along with permanent delegates to the Arab League, and a number of political, diplomatic and media personalities. The Arab League called for supporting all Palestinian and Arab diplomatic endeavors aiming to strengthen the position of the State of Palestine in the international arena, most importantly the efforts seeking the State of Palestine obtaining full membership in the United Nations to become an active member in the international community, the paper added.
Al-Sharq drew attention to the fact that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People comes this year amid serous escalation and developments, as the Israeli occupation wages a fierce war against the Palestinian people, pointing out that five Palestinians were martyred yesterday, bringing the number of Palestinian martyrs in the West Bank alone to 155 since the beginning of this year, in addition to the expansion and Judaization plans, which threaten to undermine any hopes of achieving peace.
For its part, Al-Raya daily said in its editorial that the Palestinian cause is still waiting for a just and comprehensive solution, 75 years since the United Nations resolution on the partition of Palestine on Nov. 29, 1947, adding that until now, the conscience of the world has not awakened to establish a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
The newspaper referred to the great injustice that befell the people of Palestine who were displaced and expelled from their country, stressing that the consequences of this injustice continue until now on Palestinians who were expelled and became refugees, while those who remained on their land are now prey to the abhorrent criminal occupation that commits the most heinous crimes in the history.
The daily underlined that Qatar considers the Palestinian cause its main issue and the core of its foreign policy, as it has used all international platforms to remind of the usurped rights of the brotherly Palestinian people who suffer from the oldest occupation on earth. Qatar also calls on the international community to get rid of the state of helplessness it suffers from towards the Palestinian cause, and the international courts to document and shed light on the crimes committed against the brotherly Palestinian people, the paper added.
The State of Qatar was not only issuing statements, but rather had effective diplomatic moves on the ground and contributed to supporting the brothers and their steadfastness politically, humanly and financially.
In conclusion, Al-Raya emphasized that Qatar has not hesitated, under any circumstances, to carry the concerns of the Palestinian brothers in every forum, since the Palestinian cause is Qatar's first issue.
English-language newspaper, The Peninsula, said that as days roll by, more and more appreciation is pouring in for the organization of the FIFA World Cup 2022 from all sections of the visitors – be it politicians, diplomats, former footballers, current players, and most importantly the thousands of football fans, who are flowing into the country daily.
Under the title "Winning praises", the newspaper said that many former and current players have praised the compact nature of Qatar 2022 as it gives every team the luxury of staying at the same accommodation and training at the same grounds throughout the tournament, thus saving a lot of time travelling from one venue to other like in earlier tournaments.
Meanwhile, many diplomats have praised Qatar's efforts in leaving a legacy through the various programmes they are organizing like the successful Street Child World Cup and the recently launched 'One Million and One', a global campaign to secure birth registrations for one million and one children living in street situations worldwide, the paper added.
It underlined that the main highlight among all the bouquets must be that of the visiting ordinary fans, who were highly appreciative of the facilities Qatar has put in place including transportation options, entertainment zones and general safety and security. Many were surprised to note that Qatar has put in place hundreds of free buses to transport fans from main points all around the country, which is unheard of previously, it noted.
The Peninsula concluded by saying that the fans will carry back with them fond memories of one of the most efficient and safest World Cups and will start looking at the region in a positive light. (QNA)
