SWEDEN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE ALLEGED “ARMENIAN GENOCIDE”
Baku, 9 June (AzerTAc). The article titled “Karl Bildt: Sweden does not recognize Armenian genocide” has been published in the daily newspaper “The Armenian News” (“Les Nouvelles d’Armenie”) in Paris.
According to the article, asked by Swedish Liberal People's party offical Cecilia Wikström about the so-called “Armenian genocide”, Karl Bildt, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, said Sweden doesn’t officially recognize it. According to the minister, it is responsibility of historians to examine this question carefully. The minister stressed that official recognition of the so called “Armenian genocide” may cause problems for Sweden and groups supporting 1915 allegations will be put in a quandary.
Even if the 1915 events occurred, Turkey is not responsible for what had happened in the past, and therefore, that there is no legal ground for that issue, the minister added.
