NIHR President receives Canadian embassy official

Manama, Dec. 5 (BNA): National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) President Ali Ahmed Al Derazi received the the Canadian embassy in Bahrain Second Secretary for Political and Economic affairs Kamiliya Akkouche. Al Derazi reviewed NIHR’s work and its role in spreading, promoting, and protecting human rights in the Kingdom. The meeting discussed topics of common interest and NIHR’s coordination with official and civil society institutions in implementing training programs to enhance human rights awareness. The president highlighted the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and their effective implementation by providing appropriate rehabilitation to convicts. Akkouche emphasized the importance of the institution's role in protecting and promoting human rights in Bahrain, wishing the Kingdom and its people further progress and prosperity.
