Cabinet discuss foreign-funded education projects executive program
SANA'A, June 09 (Saba) - The cabinet's weekly meeting chaired by
Prime Minister Ali Mujawar discussed on Tuesday the executive plan
of foreign-funded investment projects in higher education, technical
education and vocational training sectors.
The plan showed that the volume of the available allocations for the
higher education sector amounts to $172 million to carry out several
projects in universities of Hadramout, Taiz, Sana'a and Aden. It
also indicated to the introductory technical procedures of such
projects including preparing feasibility studies, designs,
contracting and others.
The cabinet emphasized the significance of the supervising role of
Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on those
projects and taking the necessary actions to accelerate the
implementation.
Regarding the technical education and vocational training projects,
the plan pointed out that the total allocations of the foreign
financing for this sector amount to $ 136 million for various
projects in this sector.
For the current slowness in projects' executing, the cabinet
instructed Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training
to present an integral evaluative report to the cabinet on the
factors causing that slowdown and the current problems to be
discussed and tackled.
The cabinet confirmed the necessity of focusing on furnishing the
new training centre projects and providing them with the necessary
techniques to accord with their training functions.
