Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, December 17 (QNA) - In their Saturday editorials, Qatari newspapers dealt with the festive atmosphere of Qatar National Day (QND), which coincides with the celebration of the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The newspapers issued today indicated that the annual celebration of the National Day usually includes highlighting the achievements and successes in various fields, but the 2022 celebration is different as the country is hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
In its editorial titled "National Day and the World Cup", Al Sharq newspaper said that the QND celebrations, which occupy a great place among the people of Qatar, bear a special and distinctive character this year, as it coincides with Doha's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 - the world's biggest sporting event. It added that hosting the world cup gives the 2022 QND celebration a new dimension through the participation of hundreds of thousands of fans from all countries of the world with the Qatari people, who succeeded in hosting the World Cup in bringing together many peoples and cultures on the land of Qatar.
The newspaper added that the State of Qatar, thanks to its wise leadership, policy, and directives, embodied the values, principles, and rules of the modern state established by the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, which is reflected in indicators in all fields, including security, stability, prosperity, and significant development in economic, political, diplomatic, sports and social levels, to occupy an advanced and prominent position among nations and peoples.
Al Sharq concluded that the QND celebration aims to mark the achievements and successes in various fields, renew the determination to pursue the march of victories and progress at all levels, consolidate the meanings of pride and belonging to the homeland, and affirm loyalty to the wise and inspiring leadership that strengthened the country’s position and made the name of Qatar in the center of the circle of global attention.
In its editorial on Saturday, Al Watan newspaper said that Qatar celebrates the 2022 QND, with an exceptional event, as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 concludes on Sunday, which the State of Qatar succeeded by all measures in organizing in the best possible way, adding that FIFA said that Qatar's hosting of the World Cup introduced a complete change to the rules for organizing a sustainable tournament and achieving a lasting legacy.
Considering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as a road map for the upcoming tournaments confirms that Qatar has hosted an exceptional edition, the paper said.
In its editorial on Saturday titled "FIFA: Qatar's World Cup is the best ever," Al Raya newspaper confirmed that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is the best-ever edition in terms of the most safety, fun, excitement, and enthusiasm, which was confirmed by FIFA and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who said that the Qatar World Cup has united the world, as it witnessed success at all levels, indicating that the world cup was an opportunity for many audiences who came to Qatar to learn about Arab culture.
The newspaper pointed out that the most important feature that distinguishes the Qatar World Cup is the level of public attendance for the matches, whether in Qatari stadiums or behind screens around the world.
FIFA has announced that 3,270,000 people have attended the matches in the stadiums so far and more than 5 billion views have been recorded around the world for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which confirms that the boycott calls went unheeded because the football fans will not be easy prey for sports politicization campaigns, racist attacks, and misinformation campaigns.
Al Raya underlined that everyone agreed to Qatar's message, which urged the world to enjoy football and its beautiful charm, not turn this pleasure into an opportunity to achieve political goals.
Al Raya concluded that Qatar, through its successful organization of the World Cup, proved its right to host the 22nd edition, for which it prepared well 12 years ago, and threw all attacks and attempts to confuse it behind its back, and continued with confidence and pride the path of achievement and optimal preparation for this global event until it hosted the best World Cup edition that confirmed to the world that the impossible is not Qatari.
Meanwhile, the English-language The Peninsula said that as the 2022 FIFA World Cup is inching towards the end with the hosting of the final between Argentina and France tomorrow, the whole world is praising Qatar’s organization of a fantastic edition of the mega sporting event. From fans to foreign journalists, visiting dignitaries to football players and FIFA officials, all have consensus that Qatar hosted the best-ever edition of the World Cup and proved all criticism and skepticism by some Western media outlets completely wrong. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has also hailed the World Cup in Qatar as the best-ever edition of the global tournament. "For me, the World Cup has been a really incredible success on all fronts. The main one - bringing people together, and meeting the Arab world, is very important for the future of all of us. But also when it comes to the matches. It has been the best World Cup ever," Infantino told a press conference yesterday.
The paper added that FIFA said that a special and comprehensive program for energy and water management was employed in the stadiums for this edition of the World Cup, which adopts efficient designs, constructions, and operations. All stadiums are 30 percent more energy efficient and consume less water than international benchmarks, and recycled water vapor from cooling systems in stadiums is used to irrigate the surrounding stadium landscape. Meanwhile, accessibility and inclusivity have also been key principles of delivering the tournament. They were embedded across different strategies and can be seen at all eight stadiums - including infrastructure, accessible parking, five types of accessible seating, accessible toilets, and sensory rooms.
Furthermore, the English-language Gulf Times highlighted football's ability to unite people, adding that FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised the ability of football to unite peoples and cultures, as he said that football has strengthened its unique ability by uniting the world in a spirit of peace and friendship.
