Doha, December 26 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted Monday the State of Qatar's support for the Afghan people for many years, stressing that Qatar remains committed to working with its Afghan and international partners to ensure that all Afghani people enjoy all their rights, foremost of which are the right to work and get an education. Locally, the newspapers noted the establishment of the Police Academy in Qatar to modernize its educational and training system, preparing modern policemen with a high degree of competence and professionalism. Establishing the Police Academy was the main core to gathering the Ministry of Interior's academic, research, training, educational, security, and police aspects under one umbrella to protect the country’s development process and preserve security and stability. The newspapers also praised, in their Monday editorials, the reactions that still continue on the exceptional edition presented by Qatar that will remain one of the most successful tournaments in history, praising the air traffic at Hamad and Doha International Airports, during the tournament, and its operational intensity, as many Gulf airlines operated shuttle flights to the State of Qatar, in addition to many international flights. Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that for many years, the State of Qatar has been leading efforts and initiatives to help the Afghan people. In this context, Qatar played a pivotal role as a reliable mediator, contributing to ending the war that the Afghan people suffered from for more than 20 years through the success of its mediation between the United States and the Afghan Taliban, an effort that came out of Qatar's commitment to the development and prosperity in Afghanistan and preserving the gains and rights of the Afghan people in all segments of society, including women's rights to education and work. The State of Qatar has spared no effort to achieve this goal, whether through communication with the Afghan caretaker government, international and regional partners, or by launching initiatives aimed at preserving the rights and gains of the brotherly Afghan people. The latest initiative was the International Conference on Afghan Women's Education, organized by Qatar in partnership with the Republic of Indonesia, with the participation of more than 40 countries, in addition to a large number of educational organizations and institutions, the private sector and figures, witnessed the attendance of the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the World Islamic Bank, the paper indicated. The newspaper noted Qatar's commitment to a number of projects to support Afghan women, including scholarship programs, funding training programs in Afghanistan in various fields, hosting the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in Doha to continue its work, and supporting the reopening of girls' schools in Afghanistan. The paper referred to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the State of Qatar expressed its deep concern over the Afghan caretaker government's two recent decisions to ban Afghan women from working in local and foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and suspending Afghan female students' access to universities and schools, calling the government to review its decision and the right of women and girls to work and education not only as a human right recognized by international conventions and committed to by all countries of the world but in line with the teachings of the Islamic religion concerning women's rights. In a statement on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to respect women's right to work, given that the freedom to choose and accept work is a human right recognized by international covenants and committed to by all countries of the world. Also, the State of Qatar called on the caretaker government to review its decision to enable women to work in the various jobs available to them in the organizations in a way that helps the distribution and flow of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people. The ministry underlined the State of Qatar's position supporting all spectra of Afghan people to obtain all their rights, including the right to work. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar remains committed to working with its Afghan and international partners to ensure that all groups of Afghan society enjoy all their rights. Qatar, through the establishment of the Police Academy, is working to put security and police work within an academic framework as a science subject to all the requirements of the educational process, such as teaching, training, research, scientific and legal analysis to achieve quality education and training to prepare modern policemen with a high degree of competence and professionalism, the paper explained. Qatar has provided all the capabilities to invest in education, setting it as an engine of development and one of the social rights that members of society enjoy. After being acquainted with science and knowledge in the police field, in addition to passing advanced training courses, to strengthen the capabilities of the Ministry of Interior, the people will complete the march of giving and preserving the gains that made Qatar an oasis of security and safety, the paper said. Visitors of the World Cup praised Qatar's security level, as it was able, through the national cadres, to manage the human crowds with high professionalism, and the tournament did not witness any dilemmas or security problems, the paper said. Meanwhile, Qatari English newspaper Gulf Times said that as Qatar continues to receive encomiums for hosting one of the best ever FIFA World Cups, new statistics from the mega sporting event further bolsters the organizational capabilities of the nation. In its editorial entitled "From Flying High in the Skies to Moving with Efficiency on Land, Qatar Wowed", the Gulf times noted that one of the most impressive feats was Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) recording 26,425 flights at the end of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 through Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Doha International Airport (DIA). Air traffic at both HIA and DIA saw a high operational intensity with many Gulf airlines operating shuttle flights to Qatar, in addition to many additional flights from the rest of world, including charter flights for football fans. The paper stressed that the significant rise in air traffic was managed professionally and smoothly by the QCAA, thanks to the great preparations it made.
