MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS POLISH SEIM`S SENATOR

Baku, June 10 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) met Wednesday with Senator of the Polish Seim (Parliament) Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz.
Asadov said national leader Heydar Aliyev had a special role in establishing relationship between Azerbaijan and Poland.
According to him, President Ilham Aliyev attaches great importance to boosting bilateral ties even more.
The Speaker pointed out intergovernmental documents signed during Azerbaijani and Polish leaders` reciprocal visits strengthen legal basis for bilateral relationship.
He noted Azerbaijan was an active initiator and participant of projects being carried out in the South Caucasus. The country also contributes to ensuring Europe`s energy security.
Asadov noted inter-parliamentary ties had an important role in developing cooperation between the two countries. He also added Azerbaijani and Polish parliamentarians cooperate within international parliamentary organizations.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Speaker said the dispute must be settled on the basis of the principles of international law.
Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz, in turn, praised the current level of Azerbaijan-Poland relationship.
He said the ongoing political and economic reforms in Azerbaijan accelerates the country`s integration into Europe.
Cimoszewicz said Azerbaijan was a reliable strategic partner of Europe.
He added the country plays a key role in realization of international projects.
The Senator also praised relations between the two countries within EU`s new neighborhood policy.
He also underlined all opportunities should be used to boost bilateral ties even more.
The sides also exchanged other issues of mutual interest.
