Over 20 Somalis reach Yemen

TAIZ, June 10 (Saba) - Around 21 Somali refugees, including 11
women, have arrived at Thubab coast in Taiz Province, Interior
Ministry has said.

The security authorities in collaboration with the Yemeni Red
Crescent gathered and sent them to the main camp at Kharaz in Lahj
province.

About 41 Somali refugees reached Broum district at Hadramout
province, a source at the Interior Ministry reported last Thursday.

The refugees, included 30 women, were also sent to the main camp of
the refugees in Kharaz area in Lahj.

The Kharaz camp has received about 62 Somali refugees, including 25
women and 2 children, sent from Thubab coast in Taiz province, the
source said last Thursday.

The daily exodus to Yemen comes while the United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees condemned on Tuesday the victimization of
Somali civilians in Mogadishu after a weekend spike in the fighting
in the capital sent thousands more people fleeing the city.

This latest evacuation pushed the number of displaced from the
capital past the 100,000-mark to 117,000 since street battles
erupted on May 8.

The UNHCR said that the majority of the displaced are women and
children, many fleeing with very few belongings, and having to
endure extremely difficult circumstances.
