Doha, January 18 (QNA) - In their editorials on Wednesday, Qatari newspapers highlighted the State of Qatar's participation in the 53rd World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, with a high-level delegation headed by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.
This participation comes as an affirmation of the importance the State of Qatar attaches to this prominent international forum, which provides an important platform for discussing global challenges.
In this regard, the newspapers noted the great position of the State of Qatar at the global level, as the State plays major diplomatic roles that have made it a reliable partner for the establishment of security and peace in the world.
Al-Sharq newspaper pointed out, in its editorial, that the forum agenda this year includes a number of plenary sessions on various topics ranging from geopolitical crises, globalization, development, economic innovation, green technologies, and efforts to promote diversity. These topics are a priority for the State of Qatar and of global importance.
The newspaper said that the participation of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in a discussion session on the geopolitical changes in the world highlights the role of the State of Qatar as a reliable international partner in the fields of development and the establishment of international peace and security.
Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by stressing that His Excellency's participation in the session was of great interest given the effective role played by the State of Qatar at the regional and international levels.
In turn, Al-Watan newspaper said that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani headed a high-level Qatari delegation to participate in the 53rd World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, which will be held under the theme "Cooperation in a Fragmented World."
The newspaper pointed out that the agenda this year includes a number of plenary sessions on various topics ranging from geopolitical crises, globalization, development, economic innovation, green technologies, and efforts to promote diversity. It will also witness a large number of private meetings, as well as seminars, lectures, and interviews that focus on finding solutions to problems and challenges facing the world and ways to increase cooperation between the public and private sectors to confront them.
Al-Watan pointed out that the State of Qatar has made these areas of global importance a priority in recent years, investing in new technologies and participating in global meetings such as the World Economic Forum, which is a strategic partner of the Doha Forum.
Al-Watan concluded by saying that the Forum received a record participation in all fields this year, with the presence of 379 public figures in its various activities, in addition to the focus it generated in hope that it will provide solutions to crises such as rampant inflation and fears of stagnation, as well as the exit from the COVID-19 era and the repercussions of the Russian war on Ukraine.

Al-Raya drew attention to Qatar's keenness to actively participate in all international forums and events due to its deep belief in multilateral international action. Qatar continues to consolidate its global position as a reliable partner for the good of humanity, especially to establish security and peace in Afghanistan, help evacuate citizens of various countries from there, and facilitate communication with the Afghan interim government.
The newspaper indicated that Qatar, through international platforms, confirms its firm vision of resolving crises in the world through dialogue and mediation. Qatar will continue its mediation efforts in Afghanistan because the alternative is civil war, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that in light of the remarkable increase in emerging powers and challenges in the global arena, there is a need to re-imagine global governance systems related to the current circumstances. The State of Qatar has always called to shed more light on the crises of the international community, provide solutions and proposals that contribute to resolving them, discuss issues of globalization, development, economic innovation, green technologies, and enhance diversity, issues that the State of Qatar considers urgent to serve humanity.
For its part, the English-language newspaper the Peninsula highlighted HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani's participation in the discussion session on the geopolitical changes in the world at the 53rd World Economic Forum annual meeting.
In its editorial titled "Stop Israeli aggressions," the newspaper referred to HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs' statements during the session. HE said, "We are looking at the world, mobilizing only for specific cases and specific causes, and we’ve been in the Middle East suffering for decades from all violations for UN Charter, including the Palestinian-Israeli issue and the Syrian issue and a lot of other things going on. We would like to see the same world stand for these kinds of causes because unfortunately we still see them unaddressed and continuing."
The newspaper noted Qatar's reiteration to end Israeli violations against Palestinians. The State of Qatar has time and again urged the international community to reign in Israeli aggression, which has been on the rise recently.
The Israeli right-wing government has been disregarding the calls by international organizations and countries to end all unilateral measures and escalation of violations, the Peninsula indicated.
Lately, the occupation forces and settlers have escalated violations and attacks against the Palestinian people, especially after Netanyahu’s government came into power. There were many instances of settlers storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy guard by the Israeli forces, the paper noted.
In conclusion, the Peninsula emphasized the importance of the international community standing up against these violations and stopping the attacks against innocent Palestinians. (QNA)
