IRAN VOTES IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Baku, 12 June (AzerTAc). Today Iranians have begun to cast their votes in the country’s presidential election. Four candidates – Mahmud Ahmadinejad, Mohsum Rezavi, Mehdi Karrubi and Mir Huseyn Musavi - are contesting the election. Voting has started at 8.00 a.m. local time.
Supreme leader Seid Ali Khamenei told journalists that the election is believed to be free and democratic. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which holds all elections in Iran, polling stations have been set in all areas of the country and Iranian Embassies abroad.
The voting is expected to be over at 20.00 p.m. local time.
